Its kind of the runner up event to the world time attack held later in the year at SMP GP circuit. Patrick was there in his Evolution Custom Ind 944 turbo doing the marque proud. The car has been built up to be competitive in open class for world time attack and is extremely fast. For example Patricks car is run on Rspec tyres and at this latest event, piloted by Paul McKinnon (of Evolution Custom) their best time of the weekend was a 58.5940. The 2nd fastest car in our Porsche club a 06 996 RSR on slick last year ran a 60 second flat. They finished the Event 1st in open class and 2nd overall by 0.03 of a second up against the Pulse Lancer Evolution in Pro class. Which also happened to be piloted by Paul. Competing against some of the latest gear from Japan, we hear that these guys and the giant killer 952 are very good odds for taking out Open class later this year at World Time Attack at SMP against some big import team. How interesting it is to see a package designed all those years ago, turned into something that is very competitive against the latest in design and technology.
