Greg944 Posted 10October, 2014 Report Share Posted 10October, 2014 Hi all, Am looking into improved pads for my S2. Car is used for occasional track work, has M030 option brakes. I don't want a full race pad that squeals constantly. Does anyone have any experience with EBC pads? Particularly the "Red" compound? Any other recommendations with approx prices? Cheers Greg
Tit Posted 10October, 2014 Report Share Posted 10October, 2014 I know a few people that have had poor experiences with ebc. Mainly crumbling pads and disk damage. Ferodo seem to get a good wrap. On one of my other cars I'm using hawk HPS pads and I've been very happy. Low dust so less wheel cleaning.
Carrera28 Posted 11October, 2014 Report Share Posted 11October, 2014 Ferodo seem to get a good wrap. I have Ferodo DS2500 and rate them highly, only criticism is they do seem to put out a lot of brake dust
Greg944 Posted 11October, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 11October, 2014 Rough idea of cost for the DS2500? Cheers and thanks for the ifo Greg
Carrera28 Posted 11October, 2014 Report Share Posted 11October, 2014 I paid around $450 all up for front and rear.
Harvs11 Posted 11October, 2014 Report Share Posted 11October, 2014 I've got EBC yellow track day pads on my SC. No squeals and good on road & track. Bought online from Design911 in the UK. I'd buy them again.

Airhead Posted 12October, 2014 Report Share Posted 12October, 2014 Why not run decent road pads for daily and change to better pasds for track? Only takes 15 min to do a change at the track
9fan Posted 12October, 2014 Report Share Posted 12October, 2014 Not necessary with above pads - would do better with tyre change IMO.
Tit Posted 12October, 2014 Report Share Posted 12October, 2014 Maybe ebc has improved since this was common a few years back:http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?2799967-EBC-brake-pads-not-ready-for-prime-time&p=31777499&viewfull=1https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/carbotech-brake-pads-daily-driving/40108/page1/http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=35913&sid=bb2dcc803dd4a964ed2a673d9ff70e78 Moto pads too:http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9744322
poli84 Posted 14October, 2014 Report Share Posted 14October, 2014 I ran EBC yellow on my modified Audi S3 for years and was very happy. Performed well on the track, no squeal, low dust, quick up to temp. Would certainly recommend.
333pg333 Posted 21October, 2014 Report Share Posted 21October, 2014 EBC were the first pad I went to back in 2006 as an upgrade to stock. Didn't rate them much myself. Pagid or PFC for really strong track braking. I'd agree with Airhead and change them before track event although some pad material mightn't be compatible with others which could possibly lead to a glazing on the rotors. That can sometimes give the impression of a warped rotor which you hear people talk about. Highly unlikely that rotors warp btw.
