SM911 Posted 14November, 2014 Report Share Posted 14November, 2014 I've started my engine rebuild and I'm looking to borrow (or buy) a parts washer. Anybody in SE Qld/Northern NSW with a parts washer that they're not using?
Caledonian Posted 14November, 2014 Report Share Posted 14November, 2014 Thought about getting one of these too, and probably a good idea with what your about to tackle.. Saw this one on gumtree http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/murrumba-downs/other-automotive/hare-forbes-parts-washer-/1061573118

tk111 Posted 15November, 2014 Report Share Posted 15November, 2014 Hey Scotty, Are you going to post a blow by blow thread on your engine rebuild? Sounds fascinating! Also, Starling has one in case you have some luggage space next time your in town.
Rob Posted 15November, 2014 Report Share Posted 15November, 2014 I was inquiring about parts washers some time ago - Hare & Forbes have some nice looking ones... The drawback for me is that most of the affordable ones can only use water-based degreasers. Apparently solvent-based degreasers (the best kind and the only one that really removes oil & grease) attack the O-rings in the recirculating pump. Warranty is void if you use solvent-based degreasers...
Mike D'Silva Posted 15November, 2014 Report Share Posted 15November, 2014 When I rebuilt an old motorcycle last year, I used a big plastic tub from Bunnings, and a jerry can of petrol. Not exactly child friendly or safe, but I was careful. And it worked really well!
