Car sound recommendation Brisbane south side

My 996 turbo has the single din deck and I would like to replace it with a double din "current" deck with GPS and Bluetooth. Any recommendation on deck ? Or more importantly an audio installer that actually not only knows what he or she is doing but actually takes care ? Preferably near Cleveland but happy with Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast .

Thanks in advance

I know there a cpl of good outlets in QLD Maroochy do nice work but no idea where that is from you. I use an Alpine and would suggest using an Alpine dealer, as they are specialists. I am biased as I have used their products for over 30 years, worked at an F#1 status dealer, and still use their gear but in that time I have never seen an amp fall over, and any other issues are extremely rare and always sorted out without hesitation. My Nav dbl din is now 5 years old and still works flalessly, sounds awesome and I havent done a map update. I even got the guys at Alpine to hook me up with a Porsche splash screen(logo at start up) for a factory look(nah its just cool lol)

Anyway the only brands I would consider are Alpine or Porsche, even though there are other good units available(I do like Pioneers Nav which would be my 3rd choice). The main reason apart from quaity, of choosing these brands, is the ppl who fit them(well Alpine anyway) are the best trained in the business. I like the Porsche units for OEM look and quality but a bit too expensive for me personally

I know you are looking for an installer but DIY may be an option. I DIY installed a Kenwood double DIN unit in my 996TT 6 years back (Nav, DVD, USB, radio, Bluetooth option). Wasn't too hard once you work out how to connect (threads on rennlist) and the included facia surround matches perfectly the 996TT middle console. Also added a Porsche background to make it more authentic. Been happy with the unit, no problems. Didn't replace the BOSE amp or speakers - no need to IMO.

As far as head units go I think Parrot makes the best ones these days, if modern functionality is what you're looking for.

I have a leftover Parrot Asteroid Smart that I installed in a previous car and I loved it. http://www.parrot.com/au/products/asteroid-range/parrot-asteroid-smart/ They've just released a new system, or are about to sometime soon.

Met with Alex yesterday and am going to give him ago.....will let you know how that works out

Alex did the install in my 964 for the previous owner.

New deck, hidden amp and re-built the factory speakers, did a fantastic job.

I contacted him after I bought the car and he supplied a Parrot BT kit and built me a custom wiring harness, excellent work and highly recommended.

He's done a lot of Porsche installs according to his FB page.

  • 5 months later...

So, what was the outcome?

I just bought a Alpine headunit, and a pair of Focal PS165 splits to replace the front speakers in my 964.

I'm not great at this stuff, but so far, I think it is coming along OK... taking me much longer than it should though....

If your looking at head units consider a Clarion. I just installed one in my car and am wrapped with the sound. Main reason for my choice was the Parrot blue tooth that connects almost instantly and there is no need to fit a amp unless you run subs.

If you want a good Amp check out these new mini amps, fill fit under you passengers seat.

Speaker I am using are Hertz 4X6 Dieci series, and fronts are Hertz Energy series 5.25 with splits.
