Thank you very much for that OZ930...fantastic read...

I can't wait to get down there and see the guys at Pr Technology myself real soon after numerous discussions.

Not every ones 'cup of tea' but look forward to seeing how it all goes.

It was a great event on the weekend, the development that goes into these time attack cars are is just out of this world. We were there doing support work for Patrick and Paul in their Evolution Custom 944 turbo in open class. This year we were a bit behind the 8 ball with last years engine failure at the same event we went from 3.0ltrs to 2.5 for an interm engine. It was Ok but did not make the hp and torque that the 3.0ltr did. Its a peaky motor that runs to 8000rpm but a shorter power band.

Running the control tyre, Yokohama A050 softs, they give you a 15 minute session on the track, problem is that the A050 only allows for 3-4 corners warm up and 1 lap at full noise before they get too hot and you loose time. So over the 2 day event you get 6 goes at that one perfect lap, If your in the top 5 in your class you then get to enter the shootout and have one more crack. Paul put down a 1:32.2 in the first session which involved 3 cars on their out lap baulking him, only to Have the Powertune R34 cause 2 Red flags so no times recorded for those sessions which was a bit of a bummer. On Pauls 2nd last chance he over shot turn 2 with a long brake pedal and to finish us off we got a misfire on the outlap of the last session. Not to worry though because be had made the shootout, only for the heavens to open up and it pours down for 15 minutes. Paul did a great job of driving and even with the 2.5 engine i think it did really well with the limited time on the track. He ended up 4th in open in the 944 and also 4th in ProAm in the Pulse Racing eve he was also co driving.

PR and the RP968 did extremely well considering this was its shakedown runs, first time its ever hit the track. From what info we were getting from the PR boys they had a few small teething issues and a rear wing that broke during practice, they had another one made over night only to have boost troubles with the diaphragms in the dual waste gates melting. They had 2 sets and after they had used them up they could not run much boost. Even still David Wall drove it to a 1:26.8 and a 4th place in Pro class with Garth Walden taking 1st in the Tilton Evo with a tin top record for the GP circuit of 1:23.7. Give them a bit of time to sort these small issues and run this car with power and its going to be a force in next years event.
