997 4S - I'm joining the club

Recommended Posts

hi all

been lurking around for a while, but more a long time reader, new poster.

without going into a novel was finally going to jump into a 993 but after looking for a while and prices where they are I have had to let common sense come into the equation. This now means I'm going to push the button on a 997. Chasing a S or 4S maximum 40-50k's manual coupe.

This now bring me to my 'help' query. A close mate is looking to sell his 07 4s black on black 30k on the clock. Has two sets of wheels second set being BBS which were put on the car when new.

he's not massively across who the car scene and is not sure how to price it. I have first offer on it, he just wants to ensure he gets a fair market price for it. Being there's a few on the market and some have been on for a while what's the round about figure?

im thinking 100-110k

any help appreciated

Thanks Jonathan

Hi JB

I am a 06 997 Carrera S owner and that sort of coin seems to be about right for that car with those klm,s on it ,,,,klm,s and options on these cars tend to be the determining factor on market price ,,,between 100 and 110K for an 07 997,4 s would be a fair market price and on the money if I go by online car sales pricing at the moment...if you are happy with the price of the car and that it is mechanically A1 I would pull the trigger and buy ,,,just make sure before you do so ,that you get it checked out by someone who knows about these cars eg local Porsche dealer or specialist Porsche Auto shop ,there are several in Vic,,I wouldn,t think anything would be wrong with only 30k on the dial but for peace of mind I would get someone independent to look it over ,it may cost you a little but I think it is always money well spent ...........Good luck with the purchase sounds like a Great car

Thanks guys, just trying to make it right for both of us. Obviously I would like it as cheap as possible, the positive is I know the car and its history. It's been serviced by porsche Brighton in vic, however I'm still inclined to get a ppi. Options wise it does not have sports exhaust or crono package. The sports exhaust was high on my must haves but maybe something I can settle without. The fact it's not fully optioned is offset by the K's but still the options add up the $$$.

Jonathan is the car manual? I ask because Sports Chrono didn't really add much to the driving dynamics of manual cars. In PDK cars it's more critical because it sharpens up the shift speeds etc. Not so for manual, so I wouldn't be too concerned if that's the case.

Exhaust wise, there are many very good aftermarket systems around for 997.1 cars that sound awesome - always an easy option down the track.

Don,t worry about the exhaust that is a simple fix ,,many options available regarding that and lots of members who can point you in the right direction regarding exhaust,,,if the PPI works out I would not hesitate ......:)

Thanks guys. Car is a manual ( no other alternative in my book)

exhaust that makes me feel more comfortable,  however anything I do to it I want to make it subtle. Only other thing is making the stero Bluetooth compatable as the old SIM card option is long gone....

will keep you posted on how I how I go. We are in no rush and with business commitments for both of us will take a little time i think.

cheers

Thanks guys, yes have been watching that one. Not sure in the colour and turbo wheels can be changed I suppose.

Has been for sale for at least 2-3 months was originally at $120k gradually come down. Only thing the k's are at the upper end.

Definatley will be on the consideration if it's still around.

Cheers
