Cal Posted 31August, 2016 Report Share Posted 31August, 2016 My car has been fouling plugs on a regular basis. I've decided to replace them. The ones in there are Bosch W8B or W145T35. Those exact numbers do no coincide with this article on the 356 Register. https://porsche356registry.org/article/65 What are you guys using? Merv Posted 31August, 2016 Report Share Posted 31August, 2016 I used the Bosch and was not pleased with them. NGK is the way to go See: http://forum.porsche356registry.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25251
rafikdous Posted 1September, 2016 Report Share Posted 1September, 2016 I use NGK too. I drive the car once or twice a week so not a lot. And unfortunately most is stop/start driving so the plugs don't get a lot of chances to clean the carbon off but I found the NGK last more than the Bosch so far
LeeM Posted 1September, 2016 Report Share Posted 1September, 2016 Look into NGK surface discharge plugs I used them with Karting and on my Superbike, and never had another plug problem
Cal Posted 4September, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 4September, 2016 Thanks guys. After further reading I got a set of NGK BP6HS from Bursons. Wow... the car has never run like this before. It feels like it's picked up 25% more power, starts way easier and runs sweet as a nut. I took it for a spirited drive on Saturday afternoon and didn't want to get out. I've had the 356 a little over 7 years and never changed the plugs. It's only done 5000kms in that time though. It's made me want to use the car more. It's always been a cruiser, now it's a fun sports car.
Merv Posted 6September, 2016 Report Share Posted 6September, 2016 Good to hear Cal. I had some old Bosch plugs, and others even older that came with my original 1962 Travel Kit. They were not great compared with modern NGK's.
Airhead Posted 7September, 2016 Report Share Posted 7September, 2016 Just caught up on this thread. I run NGK BP6HS as warm up plugs as BP7HS as race plugs in my Race car (non PCar) High comp on ave gas. Never had an issue with them. Pretty sure I've got the 6s in the 356 as well. I'll have to check. Glad your 356 is scooting along a bit sharper Cal.
