Timm Posted 12January, 2017 Report Share Posted 12January, 2017 After years of being a Porsche fan boy I finally got to see my favourite Porsche of all, the mighty 917/30.And what a beast it is! I can even begin to imagine driving something with close to a 2:1 power to weight ratio in qualifying trim...absolutely nuts.If anyone knows if this monster will be driven or even just have the engine turned on at any up coming events, please let me know, I would love to see/hear this thing in action! Check out those massive rear treads and huge turbos!There was also a beautiful 956 and 718 on display.And a nice GT3 RS outside, I have to say Porsche really knocked it out of the park with the 991's styling, such a great looking car. They really are very intimidating in the flesh.Awesome, I really want to go to the new museum, must be so amazing!Back when I went, they were still building it and only had a couple cars on display in a small building elsewhere. The USA Rennsport is THE event to attend if you want to watch all the hero cars actually race! I've never seen so many 917's in one place let alone on the track.. a real treat. Trying to man handle that beast around the Nurburgring with all the assists off is a bunch of fun. I can only imagine driving it in real life would require some serious skills and massive balls.It gets around! Here it is at Laguna Seca in 2015. What a beauty! I think it's a different car though, there are a few subtle differences between the one I saw today. I think there were six 917/30's built in total, of which three raced?
