reggiegums Posted 18May, 2018 Report Share Posted 18May, 2018 Please help. Badly cracked crankcase on a 964 and need a replacement. Will also buy full motor if required. Any leads would also be appreciated. Thank you.
CarreraG50 Posted 18May, 2018 Report Share Posted 18May, 2018 How desperate, your probably not getting the core charge back, plus there's freight, but a rebuilt engine for around $25000 landed at you door is probably not to bad. Good Luck https://www.vertexauto.com/porsche-911-c24-rebuilt-engine-36l-years-89-94-p-12044.aspx

Coastr Posted 19May, 2018 Report Share Posted 19May, 2018 I have the business card of the guy in la who gets all the singer leftovers. If anyone had a case it would be him. I’ll try and dig it up. also there is someone working on casting new 3.6 cases - I don’t think they are that far away from production.

reggiegums Posted 21May, 2018 Author Report Share Posted 21May, 2018 Would be a good business if someone did manage to 3D scan all these parts and remanufacture.

Targeting a $5k USD purchase cost for a 'new' 964 case. The guy behind it has repeatedly said he's going to look at remaking the early cases as well once the 3.6 case is done. The great thing is that due to 200+ Singers having been/being made, there are a *lot* of discarded 3.6 internals around now.
Mike D'Silva Posted 21May, 2018 Report Share Posted 21May, 2018 I'd imagine the next one should be the 2.7 case -

Great price too!
reggiegums Posted 22May, 2018 Author Report Share Posted 22May, 2018 Thanks for the suggestions but already tried Autobahn Dismantling, no crank case in stock. A local parts supplier does have one but wants $12,800 plus freight for the privilege......
Avon Posted 23May, 2018 Report Share Posted 23May, 2018 Here's one near Brussels! Avon Posted 24May, 2018 Report Share Posted 24May, 2018 There are more in Germany... At some price point it might be worth flying over, having a holiday, picking up a block, stuff it in hand luggage, pay the excess fees! Coastr Posted 24May, 2018 Report Share Posted 24May, 2018 How much does a case weigh ? You can always get a price for bringing through as personal carry on. But just getting it freighted ,Might not be as bad as you think. Especially if you can wait for bit and get it sea freight
reggiegums Posted 2August, 2018 Author Report Share Posted 2August, 2018 Thanks fellas. Secured a full engine from Germany for half the local price of just the case.
