mullep2 Posted 7May, 2021 Report Share Posted 7May, 2021 Could anyone recommend a relatable / honest mechanic to rebuild a motor or gear box for 912? What should I be expecting (rough ball park) for this to cost.? thanks

He is amazing, honest and very good with his work. He did work to the 356 years ago (before we bought it) and it is still great. mullep2
9er Posted 7May, 2021 Report Share Posted 7May, 2021 Engines are surprisingly expensive unfortunately, and 911/912 share the same transaxles which are costly to rebuild. I'm going to say $25K, for a fully rebuilt engine and a rebuilt transaxle. mullep2
LeeM Posted 8May, 2021 Report Share Posted 8May, 2021 My 912 engine rebuild 6 years ago was $10-11k, but that included the badly damaged heads being repaired from some valves beating the hell out of them...and the shop took pity on me. A friend had a quote of $25k from 'a very well known Porsche shop in Sydney' a year ago JUST for a 912 engine rebuild. It pays to shop around mullep2
