Shedpest Posted 9May, 2023 Report Share Posted 9May, 2023 Do G-Series cars comply to ADR29 specs https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2007C00735
OZ930 Posted 9May, 2023 Report Share Posted 9May, 2023 The pre amble is interesting but could answer your question. I haven’t found the ADR first edition yet. https://www.infrastructure.gov.au/infrastructure-transport-vehicles/vehicles/vehicle-design-regulation/australian-design-rules/second-edition

OZ930 Posted 10May, 2023 Report Share Posted 10May, 2023 From a friends experience, when the car arrives in Australia the car is inspected for compliance and the importing agent has them installed, as well as, any other remedial work, before the car is released. autojack Posted 10May, 2023 Report Share Posted 10May, 2023 I imported a US 1988 and didn't have to do any side impact changes. Engineer only had to add child seat restraint hooks in the rear. Then I had to do other things for roadworthy - lighting changes mainly. Shedpest
LeeM Posted 10May, 2023 Report Share Posted 10May, 2023 The first thing Regency inspectors looked at on both my 912 and 911 was whether it had side intrusion bars and kids seat restraint fitted. No bars is an instant fail as far as I was told. Shedpest
autojack Posted 10May, 2023 Report Share Posted 10May, 2023 Yeah I'm just assuming my car already complied, as this was never mentioned. I see from the old thread which was linked that it may depend on where it was originally delivered. Perhaps US cars all had them from factory. Just one data point. Shedpest Posted 10May, 2023 Author Report Share Posted 10May, 2023 SA rules deem any imported car built after 1 Jan 1977 shall require then, If they have them an engineer can sign off on them or if not they supply specs to make and install them. A quick chassis number check seem to add up to a 1977 build, a December 76 built may save a bit of hassle. https://www.sa.gov.au/topics/driving-and-transport/vehicles/vehicle-standards-and-modifications/imported-passenger-vehicles-requirements 19 hours ago, OZ930 said: From a friends experience, when the car arrives in Australia the car is inspected for compliance and the importing agent has them installed, as well as, any other remedial work, before the car is released. It was privately imported. @LeeM what year was the 912?

Davis Posted 11May, 2023 Report Share Posted 11May, 2023 Hey I've got a 911sc RHD that was imported (from Sth Africa) back in 2018 and it has had side intrusion bars added along with three point rear seat belts and child restrain tethers as required by VACC.
