fyi, the reason for the stoneguard, is I had a tiny wet spot on the bottom.. looked like it had been grazed on a concrete car park bumper and the rust from the outside in, was starting to give way. I went to clean it and cover with some JB Weld but as I wiped the rust, it start to leak a lot! So, had to empty the tank and remove for fixing.

I flushed the tank and blew hot air through it for a couple hours to dry it out.

I started to wire wheel away some of the stone guard around the pinhole leak.. and then uncovered a few more... wtf?

Then found another one.. this one wasnt even leaking!

At this point I found a few more.. 617uVaT.jpg

So figured I may as well remove all the stone guard on the bottom just in case?

That stoneguard must be pretty good stuff to keep all the fuel in!
