SSI and Dansk Sport Install on 911 SC

Documenting installing SSI's and Dansk Sport on a 911 SC.

On an SC it's a relatively simple install, as a small mod to the heater feed is all that is required.  It's a bigger deal on a 3.2.

I wonder what could go here...

Hmmm...what have we here...beautifully packaged

What is the advantage to these stainless heat exchangers? My car has them fitted and I wondered why, considering what they cost.

the SSI exchangers basically last forever and provide a good tuned exhaust manifold to exit gasses more efficiently as opposed to OEM designs. They also allow you the benefit of working heaters!

Noting that the SSI Branded ones are the proper ones and should not be confused with lesser or similarly advertised products.

In short, they are Porn, especially in the above application (2 in 2 Out?)

Me Likey.

Hi All

Thanks for the warm reception to this post.

To answer the questions raised:

@Cal There are two advantages to SSI's. First, as you've guessed, and as @Wasserkuhl mentioned, they last forever, being made of stainless steel. The second main benefit that they give is that they provide better breathing than the standard headers/heat exchangers. You can expect improved midrange response with SSI's.

@D-Banger, @Uncle Stainless systems generally sound crisper than mild steel systems. The Dansk Sport system offers a good balance between civilised and raucous, and generally sound inoffensive at idle and low throttle opens, but clear their throat and sing out at wider throttle openings. I've had customers report flat spots in the car's response being eliminated after fitting a Dansk Sport muffler.

@Wasserkuhl got it zackerly right with the 2-in-ness. Impact bumper cars have a 1-in muffler design, but SSI's need a 2-in muffler.

I don't have any sound recording, but sound files are pretty useless unfortunately, as there are two many variables between the recording and your ears. All the following will have colour what you hear: the microphone used, any sneaky EQ'ing by the sound recorder or built into the recording software, your 'puter's sound card and your speakers.
