Russ Posted 25November, 2013 Report Share Posted 25November, 2013 A roll bar is not a lifting point. They are very very much not the same. is the difference tension vs. compression? I'd have thought the roll bar would be pretty firmly attached to the chassis?
Pabloau Posted 25November, 2013 Report Share Posted 25November, 2013 AFAIK the difference comes down to materials, fabrication, weld content, type..... We get nailed with this sort of stuff at work (Lifting Register), where you will have design drawings, material specs, welding details, inspection details etc etc....... But still impressive to see...... Poor bugger......
Uncle Posted 25November, 2013 Report Share Posted 25November, 2013 Yes Russ more or less. A roll bar/cage is designed for compression loading essentially. For example if you roll a car with a bolt-in cage the load is sent to the floor pan via the feet on the cage. When you lift something via the cage you are only loading the bolts holding the cage in. TrevMcRev Posted 25November, 2013 Report Share Posted 25November, 2013 "It was a half-day operation in the pouring rain." LoL! The poor divers got wet in the rain! Would be interesting to know if the insurance co checks out the handbrake operation....
Pauly Posted 25November, 2013 Report Share Posted 25November, 2013 I usually leave my car in gear incase my handbrake decides not to hold... so it doesn't drive into a lake
