is excellence a thing of the past ?

Imagine that, saving for 5 years for something and then it turns out like that!  Ugh

What is his accent by the way?

Yeah, 5 years saving but don't forget he paid about US$130,000 for a top spec Carrera S and the equivalent here would be about $285,000 even though the aussie dollar is buying 93 US cents.  Our smaller market, local tariffs, import duties and luxury car tax all suck.  The amount I paid for a 7 year old C2S = shiny brand new entry level C2S in the US or the UK.

At least we're cheaper than Singapore.

Oh, and he's a New Zealander working out of the US.

Still doesn't account for the water leak onto the passenger footwell though.

Perhaps some ambitious installer drilled through the wrong part of the bulkhead to run their cabling?

There's a lot of run-off below the windscreen..

Yep definitely NZ. Soon as it was said that he had some aftermarket electronic equipment wired in it all became much clearer and possibly the reason why PCNA are slow coming to the party.

I know when I had a tow bar and plug installed on my VW Passat it was a major drama purely because of the electrics. It actually took about 1 hour to instal the tow bar and another 6 or so to do the wiring and this was at the dealer using factory parts.

Do feel very sorry for him but as someone said to me the other night there are 3 sides to the story :) :)

Well aware of the price differences. Thanks.

It could just be once cars, or a series of cars with bad connectors for example.

There was a story on rennlist about a 944 turbo that kept blowing head gaskets every so many months after it was bought from the show room. So many different specialists looked at it. i think about 15 years later they discovered a loose wire on the KLR (engine knock control) that wouldn't pull back timing and would cause major detonation.

I am amused that Porsche actually posted on FaceBook:

"Thank you everyone for responding to Mr. Murray's video. We appreciate your passion and our community's drive for excellent customer service. We at Porsche have always sought excellence in all that we do. We know you expect it of us. And when we don't meet that standard, we make every effort to improve. We want you to know we’ve offered to repurchase or replace Mr. Murray’s car, and we hope we can reignite his passion for Porsche."

It was a bit of a saga obviously, but good for them (PORSCHE) for finally fixing the problem and also for going public, even if that is in their own interests.

Would be nice to find out what caused all the dramas though....
