Barnfind

Recommended Posts

Well, I got the phone all today to tell me my "warehouse find" is now a running and driving car. B)

Based on the state of the fuel tank, lines and injectors we reckon it's at least 10 years since it last ran or saw a road. Going for a roadworthy next week if I can source a new set of tyres to replace the 26 year old ones it's wearing at the moment.

There are 2 Porsche specialists within a km of where I found my car, neither knew it was there.

Were the tyres still inflated?

This is one of 4 barn finds in the last 2 weeks.

There's a whole world of off-line Porsche trading going on at a quarter of the price that you guys are ruminating on this forum.

Just saying ...

Is there a "Dark Web" or "Underweb" where these negotiations take place?

Partially, yes. Probably had 15psi in them so they're not cracked or split. Plenty of tread, but they'll check the dates on them as part of the RWC. I want to change them anyway, wouldn't feel safe on them at all !

That would be the twin of the car Magnus Walker nabbed from us. (Which Mechanic?? (shhhh - pm me :))

The red MW car was imported in to Australia from the UK. Not Aussie delivered. I think it was sold online about 15 years ago for $25,000 full of rust. The first 283 cars were not galv dipped.

There might be less than half of the 8 or so Homoligation cars left in Australia? To see one on the road is very rare.

All of the 1975 cars fall into that title. Along with the first 120 or so 1976 ROW cars.... for a global market! Only about 50 of those 400 appear on the 3Lt 930 registery.

US delivered cars have less power and collectabilty than the Euro and ROW cars. Though with such an interest with these in the US and the number of people there. The US cars can still pull the same money.

you are a very lucky man shady.

hopefully the barnfind is on its way to a good home and will be restored to its former US glory.

I have a feeling the new owner is listening. Many here would love to hear about the journey if you are willing to share. Alternatively would be happy to take it off your hands for the right price :)
