Now depends on if you want subtle shine or matte.

This is what I use for my car for subtle shine and was recommended to me by a number of concours winners.

Works a treat and protects the rubber and plastic from uv.

For some matte cleaning action on rubber, use the 3M magic eraser, cut into strips and use on rubber very lightly - do not use on plastic. Use any all purpose cleaner with it carefully avoiding any paint work. Coat then with any product suited for plastic which has uv properties.

Well now I've answered my own question as I've now used it. Before and after on a test panel under the bonnet. Left clearly done and right untouched. It was a rough and ready job with none of the care you would normally take. Dead easy. No issues with it getting on hands or paint. No sheen. No gloss. Looks original. Says it last 'years'. Looks to be a good option from what I can see. Will do more over the weekend and post up.
