Dreamr Posted 12January, 2017 Report Share Posted 12January, 2017 Picked mine up from the auto elec today a month after I dropped it off. It had a hot wired coil,a hot wired fuel pump and a host of other mods all resulting in a coil that spewed its guts all over the front of the car. Now gone from a non runner to drive able car with ice cold aircon.I'm still waiting find all of the little surprises that await me .... I've found one where the air flow sensor on the turbo intake pipe was rewired through the cabin ..... It's nothing though compared to your little surprises!I dream of having ice cold air ..... the compressor installed is still the old type and would have to be converted to take modern gas .... not thinking that's going to happen

Maybe yours might be the same Dreamr?
Dreamr Posted 12January, 2017 Report Share Posted 12January, 2017 When he regassed mine he had to convert the ports to take new gas on the compressor and did mention the system was old due to the hoses being clamped on and not crimped . Maybe yours might be the same Dreamr? It does look like an original system from 1980's, but I'm not entirely convinced that it's factory fitted ..... from the photos I've seen on the net, the factory system has the air conditioning control instead of the volt meter in the centre console .... this car has the control in the centre console where a switch blank was, just under the oil pressure gaugeIt's "possible" that this is how it was done on series 1 turbos, but i need to do more research. Was it an expensive process to convert the old gas system to the new? Would love to eventually have working cold air .....
bear924 Posted 13January, 2017 Report Share Posted 13January, 2017 Re: Air conditioning. My suspicion is that air conditioning was added to all Australian delivered cars after they arrived. My car had an under dash system installed which actually looked very good as they matched the black of my trim very well. Currently have the system removed and trying to decide whether to reinstall or not... suspect I probably will as AC improves the usefulness of any car significantly.Noted a few fuel references. I've had my 924T for a long time now and have been chasing a low power boost issue since I first purchased it. Over the years I'd reduced the problem however after measuring the afr on a dyno, realised I was not fueling correctly under boost. Long story short, my warm up regulator (which adds fuel under boost) had half its spring missing... literally, someone had chopped the spring in half.. what the!!. This wasn't picked up by specialist CIS fuel injection people (when I tried ruling out fuel system issue in 2002) and I just stumbled on it as I've currently giving my engine a very big birthday. I suggest anyone trying to get their 924 running correctly should consider sending their WUR and fuel distributor to http://www.k-jet.biz/ . I am not in any way related to this business however found Colin helpful and knowledgeable. His website is worth a visit if nothing else as you will learn about CIS fuel injection if you keep these cars long enough.

Rod C Posted 13January, 2017 Report Share Posted 13January, 2017 All the 924 cars I've seen have all been done with a under dash system so I too are thinking this was how they were done at dealerships maybe? They all have the same butchered centre vent outlet conversion with control switches on the centre consol.

I always thought the dodgy little switch under the oil pressure gauge was an aftermarket one. It does have the fan speed control knob as well as a little rotary lever that controls the temp of the cold air, but looks far from factory fitted ..... dealer fitted would go a long way in explaining it .....
