tazzieman Posted 13January, 2017 Report Share Posted 13January, 2017 I'm thinking perhaps Porsche missed the boat in producing a modern 356...which might have sold like hotcakes.

Skidmarks Posted 13January, 2017 Report Share Posted 13January, 2017 Would Porsche also hit the same price point as it did back in the day of the 356? People's car it wasn't. For Porsche right now, its the Boxster/Cayman. Both exceptional cars. Now, if things got into MX -5 territory, that would give shit a shake. cyberpunky Posted 13January, 2017 Report Share Posted 13January, 2017 I doubt Porsche will ever chase low cost/high volume cars like BMW and MB have done. It's highly profitable making what it does and the Macan will be as cheap as we see coming out of Porsche at any point in the near future. If you want a cheap Porsche it will always be the less loved versions on the used market IMO.
LeeM Posted 13January, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 13January, 2017 Aston Martin and Jaguar have 'recreated' the lightweight E type and DB5. Just need the Porsche classic resto mob to do the 356, and Ferrari to do a Dino
cyberpunky Posted 13January, 2017 Report Share Posted 13January, 2017 ^^^^ now that would sell out in a heartbeat if Porsche or Ferrari go down the same path. Both the Jag and AM are literally works of art. Sadly the owners will probably keep them as museum grade cars and either not drive them or drive them very little. As Ferris said on his day off, "a man with his priorities so far out of whack, doesn't deserve such a fine automobile"
