bumble Posted 18August, 2017 Report Posted 18August, 2017 Reported today in the Fin, heavy lobbying by politically influential car sellers as well as back benchers John Williamson, Warren Entsch, Andrew Broad and Ian Macdonald - prompted the government to dump the option. Believe it or not, the Infrastructure Minister (Paul Fletcher) portrayed the decision as a win for buyers. Just so you know...
Coastr Posted 18August, 2017 Report Posted 18August, 2017 It's the egregious lying that chafes me the most. Just be honest and say you caved to pressure. Nobody in their right mind believes locking down a market gives lower prices and more options.Australia really is the worst for developing monopolies and duopolies and cartels yet the ACCC spends all its time trying to prevent Woolworths from discounting petrol.

Just so you know...It used to be about protecting the local car manufacturers. Then it was safety. Now it's just bullshit.

Lucky Phil Posted 1September, 2017 Report Posted 1September, 2017 Australia really is the worst for developing monopolies and duopolies and cartels yet the ACCC spends all its time trying to prevent Woolworths from discounting petrol. And when they do take on a company in the courts, the ACCC lose the case and have to pay all costs (Medibank Private is a good example this week)
