Where to get service - Melbourne

Mate, all we got to go by is how our cars feel and drive after being looked after, as a general rule with all the mechanics i use for my vehicles, is I have found its better to stick to a small business because its in their best interest and yours to be thorough and have you want to go back. I trust Chris @ Weissach in Coburg because he is a pedantic guy that is honest and backs me up with being flexible with times and prompt with any communications, for that reason I recommend him, and yes his workshop is a great looking workshop, which reflects his pedantic nature and that's the sort of guy i want working on my car.

Actually, I've heard good things about him from the bloke who does my wheel alignments (and does Chris' I think), so I'm thinking I might give him a go, even though that's a bummer about my service book!! hahaha

Pen mark on oil filter

little bit of grease on sump plug

Cloth lint on air filter catch

Just to be sure

hahaha....sad that it comes to this, but it's true.

I'm a PCM regular, customer service is the very best and you get a years worth of road side assistance and taxi's to and from or a loan car. PCM also give me classic pricing too. Although occasionally they miss small things so as with any place I just have to make sure i'm a step ahead. I have also supplied my own parts too.

I've had absolute nightmares from an independent in Preston which I won't name. I've heard good things about Nine Auto, Cascone and Weissach Sport.

In a few years i'll replace my IMS retrofit with the solution and PCM won't do that so i'll need an independent at some point.

If you want a owner operator Porsche specialist give Nick Casone a call. Check out his Facebook page on the type of work he does. A lot of members here use him. He does have the latest diagnostics equipment and does some pretty fancy wheel alignments and corner balancing.

His Facebook page is awesome, I tried to scroll through the whole thing but it just keeps going

This thread is getting on my pip.  Nothing wrong with PCM, nothing wrong with an indy.  Pick what suits you and do your homework like everything in life.  If you get let down, move on, and live and learn.  If the OP wants to PM me I'll give them my views on the Indys I've used.  Never used PCM but as stated I'm not that kinda guy.  It ain't that hard.

From what I've read so far I personally think the best person to service your car would be yourself. There definitely have been some good recommendations but if you want a perfect job everytime then the only person who will be able to fulfill that is you as you can allocate as much time and attention to detail as you need.

As mentioned previously, you're always going to have someone make a mistake on your car over the years as were all human and machines occasionally become uncalibrated (when was the last time you checked you're torque wrench). If you have an apprentice work on your car the chance of a mistake will increase.

If you can settle for getting the job done to an acceptable standard within the realms of PFA collective wisdom then take up one of the aforementioned shops.

May I enquire as to why you're not using the same mechanic that serviced your 996?

PCD has been good to me so far and usually don't need to wait too long to book in a service or warranty item.

I agree with symsy about Porsche Chellingworth though, their PPIs are probably conducted by someone who doesn't actually look at the cars. Mine came with 2010 dated tyres and Porsche approved warranty. Supposedly the salesman and sales manager didn't know how to check dates on tyres, I've since been refunded the cost of a new set of Cup 2s after raising the issue with them. They initially tried to get off by only offering to cover half the cost, dodgy operators and they're really dragging the brand down for me.

I've had no issues with servicing at Weltmeister. http://www.weltmeister.com.au/ located in Richmond/Cremone

+1 for Nine Auto as well, where I had my PPI done

I purchased mine from Welt and it has had half of its service history with them. Approx 99k kms on the clock now

Ben and the team are always helpful and enjoy a chin wag to explain what, where and why on any servicing and issues I've come into.

His workshop is round the corner from my house! That might put him at the top of the list!

I went to PCM in the end. It was just a minor service... What could go wrong?.... And nothing did.

After all  that, I think I'll sell it. I'm not using it. Anyone know what I should ask for it? 39000km now.

I've used Nick at Cascone Auto Sport to do quite a few things to mine in the last few months, very happy with the service and advice. Looking forward to picking it up tomorrow, ready for the track this weekend!

I would highly recommend, I've sent a few mates there and they've all been happy too.
