Not sure it , or the passengers would cope with the lift off oversteer when you got near any corner!

Is got me stuff that any track official would allow passengers in the vehicle from what look like at around 1.28 with out any helmets and waving ,,,,,Rules must be a lot more relaxed in Europe on drive days ,,at least they have eye protection on :P

I owned a 78 Bay window Sunliner campervan for a number of years running a reconditioned 2 litre motor from a 914 and looked into this build and others running flat sixes conversions.

Split windows from memory have more room in the engine bay to squeeze in the bigger motor, though the Race taxi's body was widened to fit the chassis underneath...

These old buses have strong chassis's. It would be interesting to slot a Porsche/MB engine of vintage/modern type in the mid cabin. And it wouldn't be the first time Porsche has helped Mercedes!

Plus , you can sleep sideways in one of these , unlike the Kombi (unless you are a hobbit).

This old twin-cab is getting a similar new lease on life.  Mid-mounted 911 engine backed up to a 944 trans.  Latest work is 928 front end into the bus.
