Coastr Posted 12December, 2014 Report Share Posted 12December, 2014 Drove past a servo yesterday with 1.25 on the sign for E10. Haven't seen that for a long, long time. The oil price dropped below $60 a barrel - not sure where it will land. I remember in 2008 having discussions about $150/barrel oil with people - the AUD changes it a bit so we don't see as wild swings as other places - if the AUD had stayed higher we might be down to 1.10 or so. Things move in big cycles. Good news for Porsche drivers, anyway. What's the cheapest fuel people are seeing?

Coastr Posted 12December, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 12December, 2014 One of those articles mentions ethanol. I hope one outcome from lower oil prices is abandonment of ethanol in fuels.

Resources in general are taking a bashing hence the AUD fall, which I am overjoyed with. I think you might be waiting a while for a reversal in the price. The fundamentals pushing it down seem pretty strong.

It's not the tune or mods, its's the effect on fuel line components from tank through lines , FD etc Rubber and alcohol are unhappy bedfellows and the alcohol dissolves all gum and gunge. But if all old lines are replaced you'd be good to go for a few years. Then you just have to worry about the gunge clogging your filters , injectors and expensive fuel distributor (K Jetronic cars) and carbies. I wouldn't even park next to an E10 bowser with a car of my own. Thankfully we don't have mandated ethanol like they do in California (you hear Jay Leno complaining occasionally). I think there was a period when it was going to be mandated in QLD but it never happened. The price difference is due to taxation and not cost of production anyway. It's not like brewing up fuel from crops is cheaper than refining from crude. I'm going to go out on a limb and say we'll see 1.10 fuel before long. I think i'll shout myself an extra drive in celebration.

Coastr Posted 12December, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 12December, 2014 Their chart hasn't been updated for a while - interesting to see if the prices start to follow the dip in the singapore price. ACCC- famous for taking Coles and Woolworths to task for the heinous crime of selling cheap petrol to consumers.

I don't think so, the good ole Gubment will be losing too much GST, so they will increase a duty, tax or a levy. Cynical I know
Coastr Posted 12December, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 12December, 2014 Haven't they already done that? Not keeping up with the senate games these days. The gubment is screwed 10 ways to Tuesday anyway, no matter who has the controls. The Iron Ore, Oil and Coal prices are way below forecasts. Those resources are what brings in them big biccies for buyin' of those votes. Oh wait, maybe you are right. As Geese we are not fully plucked yet, and they are way short on cash. We are screwed

SteveT Posted 13December, 2014 Report Share Posted 13December, 2014 I'm all for a spot of government bashing but I think the fuel pricing cycles need to be directed a little towards the fuel companies themselves. They are the ones that control the ups and downs in the price cycle. As an aside I paid 1.489 for 98 yesterday in Brisvegas, cheapest it's been for a loooong time. Merry Christmas gift accepted, thanks Woollies petrol! Just remember to keep it low now please.

I was reading on some other forums- Canadian prices are plummeting down into the mid 80c CAD/litre. I think we are somewhat offset by the AUD dropping as fast as the oil price. 1.10 for 91 looks like it's going to happen.
