Eddy Posted 7February, 2015 Report Share Posted 7February, 2015 What is battery life? Do you think porsche use a good quality battery now a day?
Shady Speedway Posted 7February, 2015 Report Share Posted 7February, 2015 Expect 2 to 5 years for most car batteries. Many will go longer if they are treated well. Letting a car battery go dead flat is a real kick in the guts for it's life expectancy.

Niko Posted 8February, 2015 Report Share Posted 8February, 2015 Might need to get a new battery Eddy, mine has been in since I got the car back in 2008, so it's lasted a while (now it will probably go seeing as I mentioned it!) If the battery is not very old (even if it is) might be worth getting the alternator checked out to make sure it is working properly. Much rather, have a porsche with a flat battery that doesn't go anywhere, than a Merc no matter what.

Eddy Posted 12February, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 12February, 2015 PCB fitted a new battery and told me everything is fine. Please let me ask one silly question, how can I keep the P car in a good condition? Should I drive all the time? Thanks
Russ Posted 12February, 2015 Report Share Posted 12February, 2015 if you don't drive it all the time you should invest in a battery charger that has a trickle capability to keep your battery topped up if you only ever use the car now and then the battery will get a 'memory' and be dead within 1-2 years something like this is what i use: http://www.ctek.com/au/en/chargers/MXS%205.

Please let me ask one silly question, how can I keep the P car in a good condition? Should I drive all the time? Thanks Can I ask what PCB charged for a new battery? I just replaced mine, the 04 996 just has a regular old lead calcium battery in it... so I go to my local battery specialist who is an honest bloke that always looks after us. He said to me as long as I used the car for at least an hour every month it'll be good for 4 years. Which is about as much as the last battery got (genuine Porsche item). He told me to be very wary of float chargers... a lot of them do more harm than good (again on lead calcium battery).

Harvs11 Posted 13February, 2015 Report Share Posted 13February, 2015 My SC's battery is the one that came with the car 8 years ago. Still strong. Starts easily every time, even after sitting for a month. Daily drive has had 2 batteries, both lasted 7 years. So any battery which lasts more than 5 years is probably good value.
