Did THIS drive yesterday with a friend.

he was in his a45 amg and me in the 987.2 boxster s.

Absolute amazing drive, with some very nice roads and a few scary corners.

Cant believe there were so many push bike riders on some of these roads...very dangerous.

Was the first spirited drive i took her out on. First of many i would think

Nice. I

Next time travel from Marysville to Lake Mountain (up and down), and then to Warburton through Reefton.

Fantastic driving, the route of many car clubs (SMT's) and weekend warriors.

Make sure you are on the road by 6:30/7 and you should get a clean run.

That would be a really nice drive! How long did it take?

we met up at 2pm and finished 5:30pm

we wanted to keep going and do a couple of those roads again, but nightfall and wildlife soon put a stop to that :)

we also did a few pit stops, swapped cars, and also a coffee stop at healesville

Looks like you had a great drive in two sensational cars....out of interest, how was the A45?

Peter the A45 is a great car no doubt, but coming from the boxster there were a couple of things i didnt like about it.

1: the seating position is a little high, and the seats, though body hugging and very supportive were also very firm and hard.

2: steering very light compared to the boxster, with not as much feedback

it is very fast though and handles well indeed. Brakes are very good also.

though you need to be careful at what part of the rev range you are in..no point going above 6000rpm, and seems you get all that midrange kick around 3500-4000rpm

Have driven that road many times as I'm not too far from there, however I made a conscious decision some time ago to avoid it.

Way too many bike riders and 4WDs cutting the blinds corners.

Keep an eye out for the next SMT. Always a great run.

we must have gotten lucky as there wasnt much traffic. We had a fairly clear run most of the way.

All the bikes were already parked at kinglake or healesville, so dare say they went through earlier in the day.

It would be beautiful driving through the snow. It has been snowing and forecast is pretty good for more snow. It is the official ski season too so there be lots of traffic! You must take pictures of the car in the snow they would be beautiful! And share, share, share!!!

i was thinking more along the lines of a blackvue as a permanent mount, one which also activates when car is bumped, so captures anyone who may hit your car in a car park and do a runner

its also small and just tucks in behind the rear view mirror

Have fun and let us know how you get on.

I'm planning to head out on Sunday for this drive but the mentions above of snow season starting  might put a spanner in that plan.

I think they get your attention via mail a few weeks later (unless VIC is further behind the times than us, we have TruCam almost everywhere now - a handheld radar that takes video/still photos and does plate recognition)

well 280kms of absolutely amazing roads were driven on today.

Going up to lake mountain was not an issue, so if thinking about it, go up now.

Not many cars out there today, and only encountered a couple slow goers which was no big deal

some pics of the day

  • 1 month later...

Love the roads up there as well, cyclists are definitely becoming more common these days especially on King Lake...There are a few back roads up there that are nice and usually free of too much traffic during the day.
