He was 80 years old when he purchased the car and lives next door to me. He has two other Porches and some other collectible cars in his garage. Between 1999 and August 2004 – nearly 5 years the car does 9000km and never driven in the rain. Over the 11 years I have owned it the car has travelled a further 38000km so it has now done approximately 47000km. Most of these KMs accumulated on country driving. Evidence that the car has been treated with care and respect is proven in that the front disc rotors have just been replaced alone with pads all round and I have just replaced the tyres all round which is the third full set – first at low twenties. The car has always been serviced annually by PCM during my ownership with a major one done every 5 years with the last being January 2016 . When Neil owned the car there was a couple of annual services by George Cairns a well-known Porsche Guy. I have all the service history and invoices. The only modifications to the car are- a Sports Exhaust and the work was done by a well-known and respected specialist in the area through Maranello Motorsport (who also recently did the brakes) - GT3 wheels that give the car a more up to date look (still have the original wheels)- An update radio/cdplayer with integrated phone
Mike737 Posted 3February, 2016 Report Share Posted 3February, 2016 FYI The wheels in the photos are Porsche (bbs) sport classic II's not GT3 rims. Not sure if you meant those wheels or another set not pictured as I've had people say the same about my wheels.
DJM Posted 3February, 2016 Report Share Posted 3February, 2016 I've never driven one but a 996 C2 6 speed at $50k must start to become a genuine prospect for first time P drivers, especially with 964, 993 C2 & C4 now north of $100k. Water cooled and fried eggs, whatevs, no doubt it's still a great fun car.GLWS

In the US they can be picked up at less than $10k. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NciqZT6iQI0
Coastr Posted 3February, 2016 Report Share Posted 3February, 2016 Well, I like it but sadly no space in garage. Good luck, and I hope whoever buys it keeps it as well.
ANF Posted 4February, 2016 Report Share Posted 4February, 2016 Especially nice with 2002 on models with the 3.6L engine and manual transmission. But the spectre of IMS bearing failure / cylinder scoring and $25k+ engine rebuilds seems to be a big deterrent. In the US they can be picked up at less than $10k. From all accounts IMS failure affects about 1% of cars and cylinder scoring mainly affects the larger engined 997 models.Internet hype has helped to severely damage these cars reputations.....!Everything is cheap in the US......
