Stepo Posted 6April, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 6April, 2017 We know Buchanan is the 944 workshop guru in NSW, but who are the other specialists in NSW and other States?I am especially interested in Melb options, who knows these cars back to front? Before owning a water cooled car, I noticed a workshop in Rowville VIC but I think they were more left to right hand conversion experts.I called by Hartech this morning and spoke to Adrian, nice bloke, seems to know his stuff and drives a 944 turbo. He had a 928 and two S2's in for repair.
time Posted 6April, 2017 Report Share Posted 6April, 2017 Hello Stepo, I totally recommend Adrian at Hartech. He has been outstanding with my 944. Some jobs have not been straight forward requiring patience and research and he delivered each time. And he is a nice bloke! Cheers Tim

Stepo Posted 24May, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 24May, 2017 I know I'm expecting too much, thought you guys were going to tell me about some secret pocket that sits behind the door card mesh, not to be.Never say never, will post some pics when I come up with a solution. To quote myself , I finally got around to the all important coffee cup holder, purchased them off ebay. They fold nicely away and are well positioned using the existing door screw. Went for a nice run last weekend and didn't spill a drop! The pics are a bit close but they don't look that intrusive within the cabin and aren't in the way when open and driving. brian in buddina Posted 24May, 2017 Report Share Posted 24May, 2017 Let me be the first to congratulate you are your cup holder! If Porsche sold it through there dealers it would have PORSCHE written on it 2 or 3 time. I wouldn't want hazard a guess on the Porsche options cost. I guess you still haven't found the secret cup holder yet. On another subject has anyone installed a netting where your coffee cup holder is. I have seen another german car from that era with the netting on the lower front part of the doors. Its almost like Porsche left the netting off as there is the little ledge across the bottom front part of the door. You can see that ledge in your photos. Stepo Posted 29August, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 29August, 2017 When I first purchased my 944, I thought I had a serious dent in the panel under the door and then noticed there was an identical dent on the opposite side .Upon closer inspection, it was clear the dent was not a dent, rather a definite diamond shaped impression which I presume may have something to do with the manufacturing process.I've been meaning to post a pic and get some feedback from those in the know, can anyone shed any light on its purpose? Scott930 Posted 29August, 2017 Report Share Posted 29August, 2017 Are they jack point markers/indicators?
Stepo Posted 29August, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 29August, 2017 Are they jack point markers/indicators?We have a winner...........cheque is in the mail Scott.I think that's exactly what they are, although nothing in the owners manual that clearly states that. TINGY Posted 29August, 2017 Report Share Posted 29August, 2017 If you jack up the car under that point it will lift the whole side of the car.
Stepo Posted 30August, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 30August, 2017 Not wanting to be someone to question fine German engineering, but I find it a big call to indent the body of a car just to show a jacking point. As you say Tingy, if you jack there both side wheels lift, maybe it was done for racing pedigree? If I ever need to use the jack for a flat, suspect I will only want the one wheel to be raised, so will probably have to stick my head under the car to find a suitable location.I can see it now, Friday schnapps at Porsche HQ mid 80's and someone suggested permanently marking the body of the car to show where the jack goes........"das ist eins great idee!!!!!" brian in buddina Posted 30August, 2017 Report Share Posted 30August, 2017 I think it has more to do with where NOT to jack the car, as explained in the manual. Sensitive under belly.
