Original stereo for 928? Eurovox 2458P?

Hi guys,

There have been numerous post and discussions on the original Eurovox stereo for Australian delivered 80s 911's, namely the Eurovox 2358P.  However I can't find any discussion on the original cassette player for the 80's 928's.

Specifically I'm interested in what would have been original in my Australian delivered1988 928 S4.

In my glovebox together with all of the original manuals is an original Eurovox 2458P user manual, so I am assuming this is the correct model. (The 2458P is exactly the same joystick model as the 2358P but it is security coded, whereas the 2358P is not).

This is further backed up by these two1986 928's on Carsales that both have either a 2458P or 2358P still installed:

https://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Porsche-928-1986/OAG-AD-14875577/?Cr=2

https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-928-1986/SSE-AD-4631300/?Cr=4 (this one has a 2358P as you can see the original user manual in one of the photos)

So I'm pretty sure the Australian delivered 928 models had the same Eurovox models as the 911 of equivalent year, but just wanted to confirm this please with any other knowledge that may be out there.

thanks

Diamond

While not an expert, you would probably be correct with the radio model for your car ...

The 944 also had the same radio installed as well ....

I think the Eurovox joystick model was standard  in the 944, 928, and 911 from about 1984 till 1989 when they changed the Eurovox model  .....

There is a whole thread on radios,  my December delivered 87 Carrera 3.2 came with a Eurovox 8280P (apparently not fitted on other Porsches till 88)

I guess it was whatever was available, they had lying around, that was plugged into the hole. But yours could have been the 8280P (also fitted to BROCK Commodores)

HELLO 928 ERS, does anyone know what a 1978 928 had in the way of radio cassette player.  I would like to go retro or have something that fits the resto of my 78

It could have been a few different ones, do you want what it may have been delivered with in Australia (I think just about all were dealer fit due to our frequencies at the time - hence not all are the same.... my 83 has an odd looking Clarion) or what it would have been delivered with in Germany (Most likely a Blaupunkt)

928s shipped to OZ sans stereo from the factory - dealer fitted but sourced by Hamiltons (importer) I believe; Oz radios, usually Clarions but some Pioneers. The Clarions were branded as "Porsche" during different periods

The same bastard that fitted the radios took to the car with a hole saw and fitted the god-awful additional antenna

This is the Clarion unit fitted to mine, looks awful and sounds even worse. I have a very good period looking unit to go in (well I have started but something got in the way) thanks to @Ozvino yes that hole will be filled one day.....

These seem to be getting some good wraps  https://www.continental-automotive.com/en-gl/Trucks-Buses/Interior-Cabin/Infotainment/Radios/FM-AM-Radio-with-CD-USB-Bluetooth

available from a number of sources incl Ebay.  Orange display seems to suit well, as well as having the mod cons, I'm thinking of one for my 996

I have that unit in my 928 - they look great and operate very well, the orange unit suits a Porsche very well. Build quality is excellent
