Rear deck speaker replacement

Thanks.  I was also looking at those on Sound Labs.   The notion of rebuilding the  speaker diaphragm is interesting however. But may not be worth the time if the original drivers are tired.

You can also buy kits to replace the foam surrounds.  Done this to many speakers.  EBay is your friend

+1

I still have the original Blaupunkt speakers in the back of my '87 and the foam edges were rotted out and had virtually disappeared. I couldn't find a suitable replacement that fitted the hole and under the factory grills so  I ended up buying a replacement foam kit from the USA which wasn't too expensive and was easy to install.  The speakers work fine now.

Ha I never checked the ohms.  Most car audio is 8 ohms I thought.  Home stereos are usually 4 ohms.

you can probably get away with anything 4x6 that lies flat.

yes I bought them off Amazon us.  The oz site still has a much smaller selection :/.  If you're a prime member you can get a lot of stuff globally shipped for reasonable cost and time.

I looked at these:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Infinity-Reference-REF-6402CFX-4-x-6-2-Way-45W-RMS-Coaxial-Car-Speakers/352526136617?epid=21026400051&hash=item521431f529:g:gdsAAOSwpYxb-gqr

and these:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Infinity-Reference-REF-6402CFX-4-x-6-2-Way-45W-RMS-Coaxial-Car-Speakers/352526136617?epid=21026400051&hash=item521431f529:g:gdsAAOSwpYxb-gqr

and then realised that I wanted to keep the original grills and appearance.  Then I realised that I can barely hear the stereo anyway so why bother with new, name brand speakers, new foam surrounds on the old ones will do!

Can you recall the seller Dav?  4” I assume?

I got them from here via the USA and postage was prompt and no GST/Duty payable. You need to order two and I just got the standard latex glue for paper cones.  No issues with customs and the glue.

Here's some photos I took and it's an easy process.
