red clubbie Posted 25September, 2020 Report Share Posted 25September, 2020 Guys, What do you reckon this is?? It's not a 1983 model..... https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1983-porsche-928-s-auto/OAG-AD-19158320/?Cr=3 Cheers, Geoff.
Jason A Posted 25September, 2020 Report Share Posted 25September, 2020 I would check to see in old vin has been attached to an S4. There were a few of the around in the past, out of HK
3legs Posted 25September, 2020 Report Share Posted 25September, 2020 There is some talk about this car on another forum and it could be a massive can of worms with err, lets just say some creative ways of getting around VIN numbers.
red clubbie Posted 25September, 2020 Author Report Share Posted 25September, 2020 I'm not interested in buying it, but I spoke to the Mazda Dealer who is selling it and he didn't know what it was. I told him it wasn't a 1983 928S and that he was misrepresenting it..... It now says in the add, that it has an engine and body panels from an S4, but no mention of the S4 speakers in the door cards or the analog clock... I would suggest it has no books and you would need to do a VIN check to see what it throws up. All in all, a very confused car, just the sort of car a Mazda Dealer would sell.... Cheers, Geoff. DJM Posted 25September, 2020 Report Share Posted 25September, 2020 Yeah but it has factory lambswool seat covers and timber steering wheel. What’s not to like 😂
Gavn Posted 25September, 2020 Report Share Posted 25September, 2020 Vins are funny things - my 928 had a vin on its paperwork that was actually the engine number (plus a bunch of other numbers)......and had been on all rego papers for about 8 years as the vin. No one had been looking in the right location for the vin - caused me much drama at one point when I tried to rectify it.
Russ Posted 26September, 2020 Report Share Posted 26September, 2020 would they have swapped the dash binnacle and made the PSD light work? I'm guessing it's actually an S4 based on the PSD light and analog clock would be nice to see under the bonnet. good to see all the keys too
