Steve996 Posted 30January, 2021 Report Share Posted 30January, 2021 Anybody else watched this? If so, what the hell is going on in the 'big reveal'? What could cause the engine and gearbox to shear the casing like that? Gotta feel for them after all that work.

Steve996 Posted 30January, 2021 Author Report Share Posted 30January, 2021 Yeah he waffles on a bit like most Englishmen I’ve met. But the point of this post is what caused the gearbox and engine case to split...twice. Any ideas? tomo

OZ930 Posted 30January, 2021 Report Share Posted 30January, 2021 Engine has been out to work on the IMS “oiler” ? Something left out when re installing or wrong way and applying a preload to the engine and gearbox. Engine torque applied more twist load ( torque) causing a stress crack at the weakest point ... the bell housing That’s my theory anyway Steve996, tomo and 911CSR

Unless it was simple mounted incorretly and too solid and vibration etc. cause the failure...I still think option 1 OZ930
