wasserkuhl Posted 15January, 2013 Report Share Posted 15January, 2013 No I don't know anything about it. Except that it has been looked after by a very good specialist. I am watching it on ebay as well!! Must resist the urge to look at it! The engine would be a corker!!
SteamWolf Posted 15January, 2013 Report Share Posted 15January, 2013 Damn that looks tasty! At that price it makes a mockery of my track car build.
9fan Posted 15January, 2013 Report Share Posted 15January, 2013 Bits have to be worth more than that !
Uncle Posted 15January, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 15January, 2013 I've got to say I've been very tempted by it. As you say 9fan the parts are worth more than the whole. I also know a nice bloke who would pass it for an inspection for the right money. Any one want to buy an nice flat black 911 lol.
J.J. Posted 15January, 2013 Report Share Posted 15January, 2013 if it could be registered it would be worth more?? the engine alone would have to be worth 25k
Vas Posted 16January, 2013 Report Share Posted 16January, 2013 +1 JJ Even as a cheap track only car at under $40k it looks the goods.

wasserkuhl Posted 16January, 2013 Report Share Posted 16January, 2013 I can go for a look if you like. I know the guys at the specialist who look after it as well. Let me know if you would like me to have a look. Will be hard to tell what its like without doing 10 laps of Mallala though Crikeys, for 34k its very compelling. I don't think the parts would be worth that but, it would get close. Selling SH ex-race car bits is a minefield. Job 1, remove the rothmans livery. Job 2, Paint it body-in-white weissach style Job 3, get some BBS three piece centre lockers. Job 4, go and win some races.......
Uncle Posted 16January, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 16January, 2013 You left one job out. Drink beer! Not point looking. I'd have to sell my car first.

I would say Can't hurt to look, but, History dictates it does hurt, alot. Let me know if you decide you are keen as I am more than happy to look at Porsches for any board members. T-Man Posted 16January, 2013 Report Share Posted 16January, 2013 I didn't realise these cars cost so little! I'm sure that the maintenance would make up for it though.

Yeah, cheap(ish) Major costs are rubber and mechanical failures. This is why alot of people are using ex-cup cars as trackday/Club Championship warriors now so they don't 'hurt' their road going GT3's. Local specialist has about 10 ex cup cars sitting in his premises that he looks after for clients. I suspect this chap selling this car is probably going into a cup car. However, 360hp with a 915 under racing conditions ?
hugh Posted 16January, 2013 Report Share Posted 16January, 2013 Eric Bana had a yellow 993 GT2 (looked like, not sure what it really was) track car that sold for similar money some time ago. Seemed like good value knowing the $$$ spent on it, maybe one day.......................
Uncle Posted 16January, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 16January, 2013 I was thinking the same thing Vas. Thats about 10 more than anyone thinks is a good idea as you know and the reason I'll keep the power down in my car.

Not to say it does not do the job. Just something to think about. Still cheap.
hugh Posted 16January, 2013 Report Share Posted 16January, 2013 Not a GT2, Hugh. May have been an RS. I have now found out it was a 964 with a GT2 body kit, it was the one shown in 'The Beast'.
