Vas Posted 31January, 2013 Report Share Posted 31January, 2013 Anyone looking for a great yet absurd film ? The Devil at your heels is a film about stunt man Ken Carter and his attempt to jump from Canada to the USA over the Saint Lawrence River, a distance of over one mile. A must see. In this car. The jump is no big deal, but the story is awesome. To give you an idea on his thinking, see below. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/WxeVoXc84J0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Vas Posted 31January, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 31January, 2013 wow!! why did the bonnet fly off after he left the ramp? They built the last part of the ramp in timber. It was made up of flat sections. So, at that speed the car shook itself apart and the chute also started to come out. If you watch the film, Ken talks about how to compensate for this small isue. He also talks about how to make the landing softer and easy to see. His plan is to plant a patch of rose bush on the far side. Ken has many great ideas. You can get it on DVD. Niko Posted 31January, 2013 Report Share Posted 31January, 2013 Just googled him up, he apparently died one year after that river crossing attempt, doing another water jump where he hit the grandstand. 270 mph is what he was supposed to be doing in his rocket car on the featured clip by vas. Certainly had a large set of kahoonas. I agree Vas, RIP Ken,
Vas Posted 31January, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 31January, 2013 This is a good example of Ken's thinking. http://youtu.be/Xp0tvjG3DF0

Niko Posted 1February, 2013 Report Share Posted 1February, 2013 Certainly an incredible bloke. We hear about Evil Keneavel or however it is spelt but this bloke is a class or two above in the kahoona department. I had never heard of him before this. I like the comment he made when practicing for the big ramp jump "I need that white Line" Hmmm...wonder what white line that would be.... I'm only joking.....I think I am only joking. (I know I would be looking for the white line or some form of mothers little helper if I was going to attempt that jump) But certainly a gutsy bloke, but would have to say a tad crazy. A real showman and entertainer...The world is definitely poorer for his loss.
wasserkuhl Posted 1February, 2013 Report Share Posted 1February, 2013 This is a good example of Ken's thinking. I don't think Ken did alot of 'thinking' more 'doing'. May he rest in piece(s).
