scratched door sills

my missus would have been a passenger in my car not more than 30 times in the last few years. But she managed to thoroughly scratch the plastic doorsill to buggery. Some deep cuts and plenty of scratches. I was to buy a new sill and replace , but I thought I might try to recondition the existing , and see how it turns out . The result is spectacular , came up as new. The process: sanded with 120 and than 180 grid the main cuts and scratches. Then to 800 and 900 grid to get a smooth surface. Sprayed primer and cut with 1500 and 2000 grid wet . Gave me a real smooth finish. 3 coats of Dulux Epoxy Enamel Black satin. That shit takes 2 days to cure , but it is hard and won't scratch to easy. Very happy with the result . Now tackling driver side.👍

bloody great job, Arne!!

I have same problem with my 987... but i have some inspiration now for diy.

When you say 'primer' what do you mean, what product is that?

Just grey undercoat. Feels a bit rough when dry . Give it a once over with wet 1500/2000 grid and it’s smooth as a babies bum😀
