LeeM Posted 30January, 2022 Report Share Posted 30January, 2022 Either adjust the latch striker, or maybe your cable isn't releasing back well enough and also needs adjusting? Seeing how much slack is in the cable would be my first point of call tomo

mc968cs Posted 30January, 2022 Report Share Posted 30January, 2022 It’s possible to accidentally trigger the latch from memory. Then it blocks the lid from closing. ‘if it’s blocked, push it by finger ‘ screw driver etc back so its ‘cocked’ ready to catch the latch. tomo
911virgin Posted 30January, 2022 Author Report Share Posted 30January, 2022 Hey all Thanks for all the advices. The " trick" as explained By a Porsche specialist is to firmly close the boot by pressing down over the badge! I wasn't doing that. All good with the " trick"🙂
TDW911 Posted 30January, 2022 Report Share Posted 30January, 2022 If you are talking about the front trunk/boot and it is anything like my 993 no adjustments will help. I did all that until someone showed me the correct way. I was trying to close it like I do in my ‘76 which is sort of a drop and close motion using the leading edge. With my 993 this doesn’t work. I just gently close it to the first latch and then with each hand in the pistol position (pointer fingers to the facing the outside edge and thumbs pointing inwards) each hand about 150mm away from the centre crest and gently push down using the reinforced leading/front edge of the bonnet. Works every time. Any other method just won’t work no matter how hard I try. Hopefully yours is the same. I never use the badge as it can dent the bonnet. Use the front edge. All good with the " trick"🙂 I've always used the "heel of the palm on the badge" on our cars, never had an issue, but I could see the pistol position also working fine

And you can also crack the badge of you keep pushing down on it. the bonnet section underneath the badge is reinforced, best to keep a clean cloth in the glovebox when you need to close it
