911virgin Posted 5February Report Share Posted 5February I've notice if I haven't driven the 993 for a week, on starting the engine there's alot of smoky exhaust for about five seconds Car is driving fine, no issues Whats the cause of this smoky exhaust? LeeM Posted 5February Report Share Posted 5February Oil sitting in the combustion chamber from the oil tank I imagine, though I'm sure there's a more professional explanation imminent Nearly every air cooled I've seen on a cold start up has some sort of blue smoke, mine included. tomo and Yeatesy
tomo Posted 5February Report Share Posted 5February When these cars sit, oil from the tank slowly seeps back into the engine and tends to pool oil at the bottom of the cylinders. This oil sometimes will seep past the rings and provide a little two-stroke crop dusting vision behind you as you start her up. If the smoke clears after a few seconds of running, I wouldnt worry too much about it.A 911 that doesnt smoke some is merely out of oil from a 993 rennlister. T-Man Posted 5February Report Share Posted 5February Don't sweat it. Nothing to see here. Not abnormal at all. tomo
