tazzieman Posted 15September, 2014 Report Share Posted 15September, 2014 That would have to have destroyed that engine? I wonder what internal carnage there is?
Russ Posted 15September, 2014 Report Share Posted 15September, 2014 it was still running when it was dumped on the track apparently

Pauly Posted 15September, 2014 Report Share Posted 15September, 2014 Oh wow. Doubt the engine is running with no fuel? and no ECU to run it.
Coastr Posted 15September, 2014 Report Share Posted 15September, 2014 I think he meant the red car was still running, not the removed engine. There's no way it could do More than a couple of revolutions after being separated from spark and fuel. I'm going to keep an eye on eBay for a low-k 3.8 race engine I have seen images of high speed ferrari road crashes where the engine gets separated from the chassis. But then the chassis is also usually in two pieces. Having looked at one of these cars up close just last weekend, that there is a very expensive little shunt. Russ Posted 15September, 2014 Report Share Posted 15September, 2014 No, I meant the engine was still running after being separated from the car, they had footage on the live broadcast where you saw exhaust coming out while it sat on the track (and mixing it up with the steam) It's probably just run on/dieseling but it was cool to see
Airhead Posted 15September, 2014 Report Share Posted 15September, 2014 WHAT?? My mechanic says it takes 2.5 hrs to do that!
FlatSix Posted 15September, 2014 Report Share Posted 15September, 2014 Have to agree with Russ, looked like it was still kicking over for a bit sitting on the bitumen.
Barks Posted 15September, 2014 Report Share Posted 15September, 2014 I was there...the track marshalls didn't know what to do with it! Finally a crane got it picked up and carted it off. In my warped mind I was imagining his mechanic hiding a couple of large bolts that he had "left over" from the re-build...so that's what they were for!
