Cayenne wanted

I think the Sport setting could be good, to stiffen it all up.

But then again are the different setting noticeable in the real world?

I have the sport option on the ML as well. For me at least, I don't really see the point in sport mode for an SUV. Maybe I suppose if I had to drive up an down Maquarie pass or similar road every day I might see it differently.

I'm the kind of guy that loves playing with things like that, however I'm also the (only?) guy that uses mine off road regularly. I bought the Cayenne BECAUSE it had PASM, and I use it almost daily. In fact, at the moment I do use it daily, because I drive over a raised median strip on my way out of work every day which would likely scrape if I did it on the low setting (yeah, I'm that guy too!)

The different settings are certainly noticeable, and while I don't often play with the sport setting much it really wakes it up. Would I tick the big $$$$ option on a new car? Probably not. But for a used car where there doesn't seem to be much (if any) price difference between the two I'd probably look for one with it.

Cool. I am the kind to press the Sport button and most likely leave it there! :)

Tassie is all twisting roads, so could come in handy

Hmm, I am not sure about that one? Would need new wheels (not a fan of huge wheels on them), km are slightly high and it has grey interior. Yes I am being picky, but I feel that I can and should be - it has to be right :)

Starting to think that I need to up my spend a bit...

This one is high up there http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Porsche-Cayenne-2003/OAG-AD-2191558/?Cr=0 and has already been discounted after initial chat to dealer.

The local Porsche dealer one is also piquing my interest, although would need a fairly low offer to secure.... http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/_/AGC-AD-17431465

Both are low km and great colour combos, plus have PASM and other goodies. Main bonus on the local one is that I know exactly what it is like and what it drives like...

This one looks stunning too! http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/_/SSE-AD-3509358

Wish there were more local to look at...

Thanks

Earlier model and higher km for less $$$  http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/toowoomba-4350/cars-vans-utes/2004-porsche-cayenne-wagon/1084498544

or higher km later model for less $$$ http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/_/SSE-AD-3281261

Or lower km late model for more $$$ (and one that I have actually seen!) http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/_/AGC-AD-17431465  ?????

Bloody confusing the shite out of me......

I like the last one but what about this:

http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Porsche-Cayenne-2004/OAG-AD-2696350/?Cr=12

Similar km and nice colour too.

I have seen that one and has been high on my list. A close look at the pics though shows a missing fog light and seat control button, I know not much but why would you not fix such simple and cheap items?? Could be nothing or a leader into the condition of the car..... or am I reading too much into it??

Car is at Meridian Prestige in Five Dock, any close by for a quick look?

Edit:

Scratch that, after a chat to the dealer no longer on the list.....

:ph34r:New car bought, not a Porsche but still a very fine motor car, Mercedes ML350 and leaves room for future 928....

you might need the 928 for when you are getting the MLs electrics fixed - and you might need the ML for when you are getting the 928s electrics fixed - kind of an endless loop (pardon the pun).......

I'm yet to pay an auto electrician a cent in 35 years. Sorry chaps!

Yes, but you do have the 'simple' 928.;)

Still has a relay for every circuit and several km of wires and accessories.

Quite happy to tackle any complex 928 if you have a problem that your man can't fix :)

Most problems relate to old wiring , 1000s of heat cycles,  humidity and of course maritime climates.

I hope you have the plastic battery post cover in your engine bay protecting the 14 pin harness connector. Bad bad location ,  Mr Porsche.

Even then - engine harness probably cooked but - straightforward rebuild for real man.

So that's the story for many decades old cars. What's the excuse for these 5- 10 year old newbies?

  • 2 weeks later...

Laughing more now after the dealer left a message on my phone inviting me back to view the car again. Wish I had of been home.... Different salesperson though....

:)

Take him up on the offer, turn up in the MB and score a free coffee and grovel ;)

I'd love to, but I really can't be bothered :) plus the MB is such a great car - very little difference between it and a Cayenne.....B)
