BJM Posted 23May, 2016 Report Share Posted 23May, 2016 Ok so I go away for awhile with work & Edgy goes out and gets Mr Lapis, Tingy is selling his beautiful 944 (tempting I must say) to get into something boosted & T has become an Outlaw. What else did I miss? Before I went away I managed to get in some much needed & long over due motorsport. They run a hill climb series and a sprint series up here & as I couldn't decide which to do I've jumped straight in & entered both. I have not done anything like this before (except against mates on bush tracks) so was pretty excited.First up was the round one of the hill climb series. I turned up very early as I was keen to get started & it took some time for the officials to set up.They run on FNQ time up here & eventually the scrutineers got around & checked the car over complete with the jibes about the engine missing. They & the other competitors where actually very helpful & friendly. Good bunch of blokes really.I took it easy on the first couple of runs just get a feel for it. I was able to get my times down progressively over the course of the day & I had a absolute blast. Can wait for round two. Getting off the line. There was some interesting cars there including this little gem.

BJM Posted 24May, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 24May, 2016 I got to the track the next week for round one of sprint series the club holds.I felt a lot more comfortable on the track with the run off on corners instead of the drop offs on to rocky outcrops. This led to conversations about a second car just for track days. Again I started easy & worked in to it. Progressively getting my times down. There was some fast cars there, including that supercharged swift & a RX7 with a LS1 jammed in the front of it. It doesn't look the best but goes like hell. He is actually building another one & is just using this shell in the meantime.A fantastic day and can't wait to get back there. The navigator got some more good pics on the day. (Caution non Porsche content)Fire breathing rotary. That swift.LS1 fits nicely in there.
Harvs11 Posted 28May, 2016 Report Share Posted 28May, 2016 Great stuff. Next you'll be putting stickers all over your car. It looks a bit of a cleanskin.

Harvs11 Posted 28May, 2016 Report Share Posted 28May, 2016 I actually need it open to fit in the thing with my helmet on. A low mount race seat will fix that.
BJM Posted 28May, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 28May, 2016 A low mount race seat will fix that.Yes. That is on the list of things to do that if I keep tracking this car. Thinking of getting something else to turn it a dedicated track car & keep this one as is.
