Yeah i was trying to get away with only running one radiator that looked like a stock oil cooler through the bar. Besides the ls motor I’m trying to keep the car looking all Porsche and not a Frankenstein. Hopefully it does the job Definitely agree with the keeping it up front and inconspicuous. I have seen some horrible solutions though I dig the speedster roof chop on the black one
OZ930 Posted 24March, 2018 Report Share Posted 24March, 2018 Could use an auto trans style radiator. Oil and coolant within the same cooling fins. An RWB style air dam might hide everything in the GT2 bodywork or alternately a 934 front dam.

Motor aside the goa was to keep it looking as close to a gt2 as I could get. I think even if I need more cooling a have a lot of room for a second small radiator at the rear but I’m pretty confident the one should work. I worked out the whole cooling system will hold over 10l and the alloy piping should also work as a bit of heat soak. The 993 front bar will do a good job of cover the radiator and once it’s painted black as well you won’t wven notice it. I was talking to Angie from car porn Racing who owns RWB Victoria. And she gave me some tips when I was planning my cooling system. 3 hours ago, OZ930 said: Could use an auto trans style radiator. Oil and coolant within the same cooling fins. I though I’ll just run a small oil cooler in one of the rear arches. I’m trying to keep the bay as clear as I can to run the 180 deg headers. I don’t want it to sound like a v8 but rather modern gt3 same set up as this
Pork Chops Posted 25March, 2018 Report Share Posted 25March, 2018 Coming along really well. For some reason I’ve not been that excited about this build but you’ve got me now! You’ve obviously got some great skills too ?. Hope I get a joyride one day ?.
MrRPJ Posted 25March, 2018 Author Report Share Posted 25March, 2018 Thanks mate. I appreciate your honesty and I knew from the start it was not going to be a car that a lot of people would like But I was cool with that. It was I have a shell and this much money. How can I make it all go for this amount. And for sure mate. I’ll be happy to take anyone for a ride. Once @MFX has a motor we will try to tee up some fun things to do for some videos. So I’ll be down that way.

And would would look better if done more smoothly. Elephant racing and DP Motorsport have both done it for air cooled cars but much more subtle. Hopefully I can get away with running a factory looking hood. If I need more cooling I’ll add a second radiator at the rear. But I don’t want to stray away from an oem Porsche look. Saying that tho after seeing @Pork Chops new wheels and rubber I have new love. I’m thinking fifteen52 wheels with the same rubber. I just need bigger rims as my new front rotors are pretty big. Radiator is ready to fit. rear 996 brake kit is installed. wipers are on and finally got the windscreen rubber to sit near in the top corners
clutch-monkey Posted 6April, 2018 Report Share Posted 6April, 2018 Have a look at the factory iroc cars- they changed the shape of the front bulkhead to get more air through the centre cooler and vented under the car. Simple mod that increased airflow considerably, doesn't create lift and is invisible from the outside.
MrRPJ Posted 10May, 2018 Author Report Share Posted 10May, 2018 Next job is to adjust the hood hinges, fit to fuel door and cut and fit the front flares oh and fit the indicators and intake scoops to the front bar. Looking at it how it is you wouldnt know it has a huge radiator behind the bumper!
MFX Posted 10May, 2018 Report Share Posted 10May, 2018 So the engine is in. What does it need to get it to fire?

I just pulled it out again the other day to fit ported heads and MLS gaskets and tidy up and paint. 400hp is all I'm looking for. I should have that with the heads and tune and headers, maybe a cam im undecided yet on that. Motor will be back in next weekend. then all I need to fire it up is to hook up my fuel pump and run my wiring.
MrRPJ Posted 7June, 2018 Author Report Share Posted 7June, 2018 Ok after a big weekend we have made some decent progress.
