withers Posted 27August, 2012 Author Report Share Posted 27August, 2012 This is at Weltmiesters.. anyone know it? It's just been listed. I wonder if it's a Coupe and not a Targa? Seems a Targa price? http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/porsche-911-1980-13255110

D-banger Posted 27August, 2012 Report Share Posted 27August, 2012 Well, good question... pretty sure I saw a pic of something that resembled an engine in the advert! So I take it $15k (even for a really nasty one) isn't a market type price for a 914? I wouldn't know, this is the first one I've ever seen FS Amanda/Doish13. This might help with the valuation.... D-banger Posted 27August, 2012 Report Share Posted 27August, 2012 993 turbo S? +/- $200k? very nice/rare. Would love to kick these tyres. Most of you guys will know this car. It has been my screenshot for a long time!!
hugh Posted 27August, 2012 Report Share Posted 27August, 2012 I thought the idea behind this thread was cars for sale that we may like to view/drive or even (I know, I know) buy? Seems to have turned into Porsche smut or porn, just happens so easily I guess...............
T-Man Posted 27August, 2012 Report Share Posted 27August, 2012 993 turbo S? +/- $200k? very nice/rare. Probably closer to high 200s Doug. Left kidney please. withers Posted 27August, 2012 Author Report Share Posted 27August, 2012 Amanda/Doish13. This might help with the valuation.... Cool! Thanks for that I think they are great cars! I thought the idea behind this thread was cars for sale that we may like to view/drive or even (I know, I know) buy? Seems to have turned into Porsche smut or porn, just happens so easily I guess............... hmmmm seems I created a porsche porn thread without realising it! I always thought a tyre kicker was someone that goes around looking at cars, pretending to buy them but with no intention to buy. Am I right? That was my intention with the thread. Just pure fun... but really, no rules. I think it's also interesting to see the types of Porsches you all lust after.

Guest Nick987 Posted 27August, 2012 Report Share Posted 27August, 2012 And Hugh, I agree, I thought and understood 'tyrekicker' to mean highlighting cars available for purchase. Hence my selections are all available if you have a few hundred thousand euro to throw around...

SteveF Posted 28August, 2012 Report Share Posted 28August, 2012 Evening all, I have found this car and wanted to get some advice. Ideally I am looking for an 86+ 944 but this one appears to be in great condition and I like the colour. The number plates are great as well..it's a shame that I live in NSW! http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/south-melbourne/cars/australian-delivered-porsche-944/1005583604 I spoke with the owner and he seems like a pretty passionate car lover which is a good thing as I would rather buy from an enthusiast. The car has been in storage for about five years and has apparently been driven less than 1000k in the last few years with oil changes done. The cam belt and water pump were done about 4 years ago so would need to allocate the funds to have them redone. Also it needs new tyres. I would certainly look at doing a PPI after taking a look at the car when it comes out of storage in a month or so. I am concerned about the time in storage and lack of use. Is this a valid concern? I would be interested to get some feedback/advice from everyone. Thank you in advance. Steve

ByronBayChris Posted 28March, 2013 Report Share Posted 28March, 2013 My daughter is looking for a car around $8k as her first car. She is currently looking at a Honda jazz. Now, this may be dumb, but would this be a better option?
michel Posted 28March, 2013 Report Share Posted 28March, 2013 not dumb just not in the budget - be a coll first car though. there is a LHD 912 just popped on to the market in Adelaide - I posted a link in the 912 glutony thread. buy a 914 unless you want modern safety funcitons such as air bag and abs etc why not a 924 martini special edition
ByronBayChris Posted 28March, 2013 Report Share Posted 28March, 2013 Just found that it is banned under the vicroads high performance database. Funny, but she drives my vw R36 which is faster, but is approved...... I would like something with abs for sure
withers Posted 28March, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 28March, 2013 I suppose it also depends just how much your daughter is into cars.. I imagine many people might prefer to spend money on other things than expensive maintenance?
ByronBayChris Posted 28March, 2013 Report Share Posted 28March, 2013 Well she looked at an a class Benz, but I talked her out of that :-D I would have loved this as my first car...... probs too expensive to maintain for her
