The "geez this looks nice" tyre kickers thread!

Recommended Posts

Well, good question... pretty sure I saw a pic of something that resembled an engine in the advert! So I take it $15k (even for a really nasty one) isn't a market type price for a 914? I wouldn't know, this is the first one I've ever seen FS

This might help with the valuation....

I thought the idea behind this thread was cars for sale that we may like to view/drive or even (I know, I know) buy? Seems to have turned into Porsche smut or porn, just happens so easily I guess...............

hmmmm seems I created a porsche porn thread without realising it! :) I always thought a tyre kicker was someone that goes around looking at cars, pretending to buy them but with no intention to buy. Am I right? That was my intention with the thread. Just pure fun... but really, no rules. I think it's also interesting to see the types of Porsches you all lust after.

And Hugh, I agree, I thought and understood 'tyrekicker' to mean highlighting cars available for purchase. Hence my selections are all available if you have a few hundred thousand euro to throw around...

Evening all,

I have found this car and wanted to get some advice. Ideally I am looking for an 86+ 944 but this one appears to be in great condition and I like the colour. The number plates are great as well..it's a shame that I live in NSW!

I spoke with the owner and he seems like a pretty passionate car lover which is a good thing as I would rather buy from an enthusiast. The car has been in storage for about five years and has apparently been driven less than 1000k in the last few years with oil changes done. The cam belt and water pump were done about 4 years ago so would need to allocate the funds to have them redone. Also it needs new tyres.

I would certainly look at doing a PPI after taking a look at the car when it comes out of storage in a month or so. I am concerned about the time in storage and lack of use. Is this a valid concern? I would be interested to get some feedback/advice from everyone.

Thank you in advance.

Steve

Amanda, here is another one for sale in Sydney at a similar price however it appears to need some more work:

  • 6 months later...

not dumb just not in the budget - be a coll first car though. there is a LHD 912 just popped on to the market in Adelaide - I posted a link in the 912 glutony thread.

buy a 914 unless you want modern safety funcitons such as air bag and abs etc why not a 924 martini special edition :)
