withers Posted 1March, 2013 Report Share Posted 1March, 2013 Mazda, with their very low MX-5 sales.. must be having a panic with this coming out. I wonder what they'll answer with when they release their new Roadster. This car looks pretty nice!

wasserkuhl Posted 1March, 2013 Report Share Posted 1March, 2013 That does look very very very good doesn't it? Be prepared to see alot of cheap MX-5s on the market soon...... I would even have an 86 Roadster, that is nice.
tazzieman Posted 2March, 2013 Report Share Posted 2March, 2013 Is it just me or do all modern cars look the same? Another hairdresser car , yeah i know a modern classic but it will never have that smell...
hugh Posted 2March, 2013 Report Share Posted 2March, 2013 I know they are a very highly regarded car, my brother works for Subaru and he ear bashed me months before they were due for release. I still find it hard to get excited about new cars though, kind of like shopping for white goods.
tazzieman Posted 2March, 2013 Report Share Posted 2March, 2013 The lack of diy is always unappealing to me, but attractive to many . To each his/her own
withers Posted 2March, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 2March, 2013 Where are you going with this Amanda? Stick to the path of Porscheousness! Absolutely nowhere... It's pretty. As a former MX5 fan, I find the competition out now interesting!

I've been meaning to change the DD, but honestly I find it a chore and just can't be bothered. The P-car experience provides all the 'car satisfaction' for me. _Tony Posted 11March, 2013 Report Share Posted 11March, 2013 Friend of mine works at Toyota, so have driven the 86 coupe a few of times.. handles quite well, nice exhaust note coming through the cabin, a bit underpowered.. overall pretty good
teknostar Posted 12March, 2013 Report Share Posted 12March, 2013 Shame about the looks of the 86 / BRZ. MX5 dominates the looks dept IMO. One is a clear boy racer rice bucket, and the other whilst being a hairdresser car in some eyes has good performance cred and again IMO looks fantastic (all versions) for what it is. JustJames Posted 12March, 2013 Report Share Posted 12March, 2013 To me the Toyobaru looks great as a coupe, but lousy as a convertible. I have a self-developed theorem of car design: When the car is designed as a coupe and gets its roof lopped off, the result looks like a pram. When a car is designed as a convertible and has a roof added, the result is gorgeous.
withers Posted 13March, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 13March, 2013 It really is too boy racer this 86 model. But then again, plenty of MX5s are getting the racer treatment too now.
tazzieman Posted 13March, 2013 Report Share Posted 13March, 2013 According to chief engineer Tetsuya Tada, the unique shoujyouhi red colour was based on the colour of a Japanese monkey's backside Don't buy a red one Amanda
