cafe_racer Posted 18February Report Share Posted 18February Gst. That’s about it. What are you thinking of bringing in? Few things seem well priced in NZ so far as track cars.
mc968cs Posted 18February Author Report Share Posted 18February Thanks. Not sure yet but my interest is piqued. Gt4 clubsport, 996 997 991 cup all have interesting options emerging offshore.
on_booost Posted 19February Report Share Posted 19February I'm not sure on the no Duty part - depends if its from a FTA country. Cost price + shipping costs (+duty if applicable) converted into Aussie - then ADD GST.
sleazius Posted 19February Report Share Posted 19February I was going to say, GST definitely applies. I also know for road cars, even ones that can't be driven here and can't be registered, they still charge you LCT. So I'd check that. edgy Posted 20February Report Share Posted 20February I'm dubious on the point of exemption of LCT for race cars, but found this extract: Is the Race Car a 'luxury car'? The vehicle is a racing vehicle. The manufacturer has stated that the vehicle is for race use only and cannot be registered for use on public roads or highways. The vehicle's manual further confirmed that the vehicle is intended for off-road use only. The vehicle also has various features and components of the racing vehicle that would not be found on a typical car able to be driven on public roads. The vehicle was imported to race at various racing events. Accordingly, Race Car falls within the class of vehicle designed to be used only on racing or rally circuits or off-road, and is not capable of being registered for use on public roads. The vehicle is not a 'car' under section 27-1 of the LCT Act and therefore not subject to LCT. TwoHeadsTas, tomo and micknine01
LeeM Posted 20February Report Share Posted 20February Doubt there's any 'luxury' in a cup car 😅
