edgy Posted 21March, 2014 Report Share Posted 21March, 2014 CTS was not comfortable selling the car to me and have refunded the deposit Wow.. that says a lot to me! I bet you are glad you dodged that one, they'll have to wait for some poor unassuming first time 911 buyer..
juzmister Posted 21March, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 21March, 2014 Insane...they asked the seller to come collect the car. I feel sorry for the poor chap who is tempted by the price...CTS has offered to pay for my next inspection.
michel Posted 21March, 2014 Report Share Posted 21March, 2014 uhmm why were they (CTS) listing the car to start with ?
juzmister Posted 21March, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 21March, 2014 I assume they thought it was a good car, though seems like they need to do a better job of their pre-sale inspection.
ByronBayChris Posted 21March, 2014 Report Share Posted 21March, 2014 Always get ppi, even when buying from dealer (especially when buying from a dealer??)

Heading down to Melbourne on Friday for a wedding, so might be able to pick it up if it's all good!
juzmister Posted 26March, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 26March, 2014 Seller gave me a call, he sold the car today. Someone took it for a spin and decided to take it on the spot without a PPI...Some are braver than me! This is proving more difficult that anticipated..! sleazius Posted 26March, 2014 Report Share Posted 26March, 2014 I've been looking for 7 months and I'm only looking for a 997. A 993 search is considerably harder.
juzmister Posted 26March, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 26March, 2014 Thanks Guys I should probably open the search to 3.2s as well if I want to get on the road again! It's a hassle not having a car...
SteveF Posted 26March, 2014 Report Share Posted 26March, 2014 Be patient. The right car will come along for you. We all have tales of the time it took to find and buy our cars. I was searching for about 11/2 years but when I found it the feeling is fantastic. It will be worth it in the end.
juzmister Posted 27March, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 27March, 2014 http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-911-Carrera-1985/SSE-AD-2713506/?Cr=20&sdmvc=1 Well guys, I did it! Managed to pick it up at a deep discount to asking price as well post the inspection. The guys at fitz racing had a look. Engine tested well with 8/6% Idle was a little rough, might need work done on the fuel pressure regulator. Seals need work (whistles) and there is a small oil leak, which might require a top-end at some stage (car has only done 110k!). 2nd is a little slow, due to syncro wear..but not something that needs to be addressed for another 10-20k. Excited!

juzmister Posted 1April, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 1April, 2014 Thank you very much everyone! I'll put some pics up when it's in the garage in a couple of weeks. Heading to Cavaco next Wednesday to have some work done on the gearbox and funny idle. Will try fix the oil leak too, if the budget allows.
