tazzieman Posted 3August, 2014 Report Share Posted 3August, 2014 Monty gives a big dirty burble (at idle). You will get rude glances from Certain Types of People Whatever you do , don't let on you are (horror) bypassing the cat.
JV911 Posted 4August, 2014 Report Share Posted 4August, 2014 Had the fabspeed pre-muff and monty on my 76 2.7 then SSIs and Monty on the 3.0 and they sounded eargasmic http://www.fabspeed.com/911-carrera-european-pre-muffler-catbypass-pipe/ They actually do a cat too which looks much the same and is about $500. Its worth paying for over the pre-muff I reckon.

J.J. Posted 4August, 2014 Report Share Posted 4August, 2014 if you get busted with no cat your screwed big time, its not worth it for the 1hp gain.. just put a high flow cat.

Does this only apply to 1986 (unleaded introduced in Aus) and newer vehicles?

J.J. Posted 5August, 2014 Report Share Posted 5August, 2014 correct 86 and newer need a cat. 85 and earlier never had one from the factory hence no need big big risk running no cat in a car that is required to have one, and these days people who modify there cars are the biggest criminals out there
tazzieman Posted 5August, 2014 Report Share Posted 5August, 2014 Tassie is so eternally backwards & poor , we have no RWC. There must be thousands of crims out there? Funny thing is , these classic cars are hardly ever involved in accidents.

911oclock Posted 15August, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 15August, 2014 Have you played it like a didgeridoo yet? Yeah I did try but I couldn't get the breathing right. Finished the install 23:30 last night and had to fire it up......amazing sound!! Not to loud at idle but as Tazzie said 'dirty low burble'. With this rain band across Qld at the moment I can't get out for a test drive. The old rusty nuts were no match for my new mapp/oxy torch. 30sec heat had them cherry red and they came off easily. I've replaced the bolts with 304 stainless and double brass nuts. Damn weather!!!
Merv Posted 16August, 2014 Report Share Posted 16August, 2014 Nice sound from the Monty. My neighbours all know it. "Purposeful" is the polite description.
Simonk Posted 16August, 2014 Report Share Posted 16August, 2014 I loved my Monty on my old 3.2. Used to always set off car alarms. Prefer it over my current DP11.
