Refurbishing Fuchs wheels

Skidmarks

Recommended Posts

I'd be grateful for any leads in relation to getting Fuchs wheels redone.

I have a set of 15x6 wheels off my 911T that have seen better days.  The anodising on the petals is good but the paint and anodising on the rest of the wheels is very average.

Thanks.

Both, the outer is anodised and the petals are painted.

If you look at my pics on Imgur in the Wheel Refurb gallery you can see there are two different types of metal used in the Braid wheel and that's why they decided to do them the way they did.

Michael from Promotive Engineering who does all the work on my car looked after the process and discussions with them with the end result they felt more comfortable using both methods due to the wheel construction

It wasn't cheap and they took their time doing them but the end result was worth it.

Personally if I had to do it again we would probably send them off to Harvey Weidman in SoCal as I think I would have had them back allot quicker and for a better price but it is what it is.

Cheers Al

You know this, everyone know this, but your car is friggin unbelievable. The attention to detail and execution is superb. I would love to see this in person one day.

Harvey Weidman is in Oroville Southern California. He doesn't have a website so I called him to discuss what I wanted done.

He was a great guy to chat to and we spent about an hour going through options etc, he is absolutely the go to guy if you want an RSR finish with tonnes of threads on Pelican raving about his work.

If you look at the second link that is the thread I created on Pelican at the time, I looked at using ship2Anywhere.com.au to get the wheels there as they were the best price possible to ship all 4 wheels @ $385 AUD to Socal total and $450 back.

In the end we got them done by Melbourne Classic Road and Track here who did a fantastic job but took ages so if I need them done again I will get them done by Harvey.

I've had a couple sets done by Depulu in the past.  At the time they were having problems with their anodiser company so they couldn't do anodised petals - only the outer rims.  This has probably been fixed.  I elected for matt black petals.  $500 per wheel but in the end, a superb job.  Took about 2 months IIRC...

Amazing (and annoying) that there is no one in the southern states doing this.

There is a topic on here somewhere, where a friend of mine in Melbourne does a mega job of Fuchs rims

I'll have a look around and see what I can find and get back to you

See 'jnr356' post near the bottom

I spoke with David from CRT today and he only does 15" as the metal quality is much better and they get a more consistent finish.  So I'm looking for a wheel finisher who will take my Fuchs as close back to factory standard as possible, and based in Melbourne and ideally close to Dandenong.

Any recommendations?
