I used to be friends (my neighbour) with one of Schuppan's mechanics (Ken Stratton - now deceased) and I always liked to listen to Ken's LeMans experiences.

Vern was my hero back when he was with Porsche. I finally met him at Mallala Historic meeting couple of years ago when he was doing demo laps in his Talbot F1 car. Such a nice bloke to talk to with me being very nervous to go up to him, yet he shook my hand and was happy to chat. Gobsmacked! Absolutely pissed I didn't get an autograph though

Yes similar experience - I introduced myself to him at Motorclassica.... delightful bloke and Australian motor racing royalty in my view...

I met him at a friends warehouse where he keeps his collection of cars and bikes I thought he was the caretaker .

After I worked out who he was we got chatting he is such a lovely bloke with great stories we spoke a lot about him racing cars  with Mike Hailwood .

Met him twice. 1st at a PCSA meeting way back in 1985  ( or was it 86 ) and then at a local motor trimmers here in Kilkenny Adelaide around 5 years ago. As the others have said very nice bloke and easy going.

Does he live in Adelaide these days? He was at AMF a few years ago but I never saw him.

 Last I heard he lives in or near Murray Bridge
