Seventy911 Posted 21July, 2022 Report Share Posted 21July, 2022 Hi, Im about to replace my door rubber seals and hoping to hear from those who have successfully done this with what adhesive worked. Please don't suggest Shelley's contact adhesive... absolute rubbish, even when following the temp and time tack recommendations. I have heard Sikaflex make a great adhesive for this purpose? Appreciate the help! cheers, Seventy

TDW911 Posted 21July, 2022 Report Share Posted 21July, 2022 I use 3M weather strip adhesive. I’ll get a photo tomorrow when I go into the shed. Awesome product and fantastic on the sound pad also. Peter M and tomo

However I find Permatex Super Weatherstrip adhesive works as well as the 3M stuff but is usually easier to obtain as Supercheap and Repco stock it. tomo
TDW911 Posted 21July, 2022 Report Share Posted 21July, 2022 Yeah, it can be a bit hard to get. I normally source it from an automotive paint shop. tomo

Seventy911 Posted 22July, 2022 Author Report Share Posted 22July, 2022 Thank you TDW911! I did a bit of scouting around and seems like out of stock for most online suppliers unfortunately. I'll post here what I can find and how it goes! 🤞
autojack Posted 22July, 2022 Report Share Posted 22July, 2022 I used that same 3M stuff to put on new sunroof seals, worked great. tomo
KERMIT Posted 23July, 2022 Report Share Posted 23July, 2022 Hard to believe I actually did this, but I tracked down THE last tube of the 3M product and drove to Ballarat to get it!!! tomo, Peter M and TDW911 1
P-Kay Posted 19August, 2022 Report Share Posted 19August, 2022 I ended up purchasing a tube on eBay from the States and sadly they stopped it at the border to only receive a refund - Bugga!! TwoHeadsTas

Guys, you are over thinking this, just go to your local parts store and get the job done. Permatex is just as good. Easy, just don't get it everywhere! 😁 For sunroof seals I've used masking tape to mask off any areas you don't want it. For door seals you can simply apply it into the body channel and leave the door seal uncoated. Let the contact flash off and then push the seal into place. Easy, don't sweat it!
