912 gluttony

Recommended Posts

I used to thnk only a few years ago that 912 's were forever to languish and to be seen as not a proper (. 911) car, good for 'entry level experience' or suitable for parts or 911 conversion. Had some correspondence with a guy called Jeff trask who works with European collectibles in the s where we were hotly debating then current values.

I thought the prices sought for a particular car ( he held interest in) were exaggerated, and was not reflective of the market. Might of been so then, but time a changed see here for a recent link...in oz though I don't think this realization has hit well here. Plus alot less 912's .

In oz the top price unrealized for a very original ex Hamilton personal import was 45 k this was 5-6 years ago...

Australia = Less cars and less people.

Everyone wants a 911.

I think perhaps that the 912 is starting to mature in Value, however I don't think that they will explode like early 911's have in value.

As time moves on I think we will see more interest in 912's as it offers an affordbale, characterful entry into Porsche ownership.

I remember looking at a 1972 911T RHD for 32k and though it was too expensive for an 'old porsche'. idiot.

For someone like me on a tight budget, that is certainly how i see these cars.  I can't be the only person :) some of us may never be able to park a 356 in the garage or a 1971 911 like we want too.. but the 912 gives you the opportunity to have all that early character at a SC price :) actually a SC price should buy a real beaut of a 912!

No it was here in SA about 5 years ago.

realisitically it would be about the same price now. Nobody wants to spend big $$ on an early 911 in Australia. If they do its a one off...

Thats why a 912 makes more sense. Same looks, same driving experience. 140k feck that.

On car sales 1969 oz delivered 912. No affiliation.

Ugh what did they do to that dash??? Ruined it!   Is that hard to fix?  If it wasn't a rust bucket, nice car!
