1966 restored Beetle.

Recommended Posts

 Hey all.

First up, I'm not a financial member, and am unable to message admin for some reason to see if this is ok to post, so if you feel this is double standards by a forum moderator, please feel free to let me know and I'll delete it.

I have a client I'm doing some building work for at the moment, and during some conversations, he told me his brother in law is unfortunately terminal with cancer and needs to sell his beloved '66 Beetle.

It has been restored and done approximately 300kms since the rebuild, and going by the photos and text below, it looks like a stunning car. I have owned a few old Beetles and Kombis prior to the 911, so I have an idea of what's what with them, yet I haven't seen it or know anything else about the car personally, as it is in Melbourne.

I have no financial interest or receiving any commission with the sale, I'm just putting it out there on various social media pages/forums to generate some interest in the car due to the unfortunate circumstances with the seller.

A firm asking price has not been set, yet going by market values and speaking with some very experienced VW 'people', I'd easily expect it to be between $25-30k

If you or someone you know might be interested in receiving some more information about the car, please send me a private message and I can put you in touch with my client to liaise with.

(Single post members please contact me privately, as I'll need your phone number and license details prior to handing over phone numbers or information)

Cheers

Lee

Car looks a treat @LeeM that pic was taken next suburb to me.
Sorry to hear of owners news- it’s horrible. I lost my father to 8.5year fight in March 23 and his first car was a beetle.

I hope it goes to a good home.

My condolences mate. Yeah, having lost my dad to it 4 years ago, it's shit.

I'd love to buy it myself if I could, and I too want it to go to a good home

20 ~ 25k seems cheap.

Not familiar with that market but at the c$ it will sell very quickly.

I'll say it's good buying at $25-30k to the right buyer who will appreciate it for what it is and the work that's gone into it. I know the resto cost was well over that kinda money, yet like any marque, you'll probably lose money on a resto unless you've bought very cheap and done a lot of the work yourself.

The VW market depends on what it is and who wants it. Earlier 50's Beetles (period correct oval windows especially) are more in demand by collectors etc, yet they're also few and far between and cost a lot more for a restored car. A friend sold a restored '56 Oval to the UK for $50k in September last year which I thought was pretty cheap, and another friend sold a heap of shit Oval for $25k, so there's definitely a big global market for Beetles.

I'd seriously buy this Beetle in a heartbeat if I could afford it.
